I got so excited today as i got myself a slow cooker from my quidco earnings-£7.50 for a morphy richards one, still in packaging with instructions from a charity shop. Can't wait to try it out as have loads of cheap meat cuts from butchers last month. I love the os thread for recipes and will sadly spend even more time on here..
Well done Mrs M- for bargains, i grow my own herbs and they are great for adding to everything really. I now crave a drier, so can keep them longer.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

We're making leek and carrot soup at the moment, having heck of a job getting it through the strainer though (needs to be a "clear soup" apparently). No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -

I second this
I like my leeks with a cheese sauce, like you'd have cauliflower cheese. Yum0 -
Hi everyone!! :hello:
I'm on my 6th NSD today and I've got my first shop being delivered tomorow evening. It should come to about £80 hopefully but over £20 is toiletries (mainly for OH!! ) and £10 is for nappies/wipes.
Jacks have you thought about the implant? It goes in your arm and lasts for 3 years. I had this and it was really quick for them to put in and then you don't have to think about it for 3yrs.

I've spent £2.90 today in Somerfield whilst I was passing. They had naan bread, barms and apples whoopsied and I also got some oranges and satumas. My Somerfiled has some good whoopsies atm as an Aldi has just opened to rival the monopoly they had in my village. It seems everyone is going to Aldi, which I have too, but I've sneaked back to Somerfield to kick them when they're down :rotfl: . I might go to Mr M's tomorrow with M&D to get a few things I've run out of but don't really need until next week. I can't be doing with not having stuff in  .
The weather has been lovely here today so DD "helped" me plant some seeds. So far we have runner beans, tomatoes, radishes, mixed salad leaves, some bedding plants for my hanging baskets and sunflowers. I'm gonna have another look in the garden centre for some more seeds and plant them straight outside when I've got round to digging my plot over, I've run out of room for keeping pots inside. Wish me luck, it's the first time I've tried to grow anything0 -
Spent a staggering 12p on carrots today from Taj :rotfl: . Now I can make the mini carrot cakes I promised my daughter!!Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £82,340.34 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £155 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £153.54 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £964.62 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0

I do a leek and carrot soup too but I never strain it. It prefer mine chunky
I just sweat an onion off with the leeks, add the carrot, add some stock (HM or oxo type), some dried mixed herbs and cook for about half an hour or so. LovelyI freeze any leftovers in mugs for a cupasoup ready to bung in the microwave.

GEMMZIE I love leek and smoked haddock rissotto. www.bbc.co.uk/food type it in the search bit and it's a recipe by James Martin. I just make the rissotto itself rather than putting the big bit of fish on top with the parsley oil (makes it more thrifty) it is gorgeous.
Oh, the mascapone you need for this recipe can be used instead of cream, I manage to get 3-4 meals out of each tub so none gets wasted.LBM 17th April 2007:j

Today I have spent a total of £32.86.
£28.19 in Aldi, £4.27 in Lidl and 40p for parking.
I have to save £3.10 to pay the mikman for this week. I will put this away somewhere so I don't spend it.
I just need to buy eggs and onions but I will see if I can do without them for this week.
My shop in Aldi includes nappies for ds2. I had always brought Pampers or Huggies but I have brought a brand which I have never heard of. DS2 is potty training and doing very well. Currently only needs nappies/pullups at night time. I have no idea why I am telling everyone this so I will now stop.:o
It is only day one for me and I am having fun trying not to spend any money.Smile loan - £2821.98 / £0:)
