  • Just quickly before I go, could people maybe tell me what supermarkets they prefer. I have MrT and MrS about a mile away, MrM about 2 miles away, Asda and a small Aldi about 5 miles away(very busy to get to). I usually do MrT every week because larger store then MrS, so more variety. Never really go into Aldi or Asda although Asda very large)as very busy roads to get to. Just wondering if worth going to Adli and Asda, if they are better value. Imput most welcome.......

    Hi Everyone,

I have just had Mr T delivery and i am chuffed, only spent £55.29....so hopefully i have bought enough to last all week and I won't need to pop down somerfield for any bits n bobs.

I could do with saving any underspends so fingers crossed.

    Hi Mrs M,

Could you put me down for £200 for this month please. I am determined I can do it although I was over by £25.78 last month!

JayneC what a good idea! I have some leftover from my first batch so I will try this too - thanks for the idea!

Today will be a NSD for me as I have got the next few days dinners all planned and shouldn't need to go near a shop for food until Thursday.

I see people keep referring to Cravendale milk - is it different from ordinary milk? I have been successfully watering down the semi-skimmed stuff and DH hasn't noticed at all. Also buy the supermarket own brand unsweetened soya milk which I use to make porage in the mornings or on cereal. It's much cheaper than alpro soya and taste much the same as far as I can tell.

    Best get back to work!

I understand it usually has a much longer date on it. But I tried switching and OH could tell the difference and didn't like it

    wow

I can't keep up with this forum - I'm brand new and struggling to read everything but I want to say a huge big Thanks to everybody for the welcome they have given me.

Chimp Choker - are you from Hartlepool?

You are right of course, I need the right mind set. It's a question of 'when' not 'if' I achieve my dreams. I mean.....the boys in red didn't win by dreaming 'maybe' did they? wink.gif

Have had a long talk with the so and decided to aim for the move in 5 years time. Realistic but not so far away to get demotivated. I have also been sowing veg seeds till it went dark yesterday so my food bill should reduce substantially in a couple of months providing those darn slugs and bunnies behave themselves!!!

i will sort my menu plan out later, I am almost done withmy shopping list. It looks suspiciously short - must be missing something somewhere so the not eating idea may be forced into play.

Thanks again and good luck to all

from the not fed up but o so cute one

Hi Folks, hope everyone is well.

NSD for me today, but have placed an order with Mr T which should come in at around £129 inc delivery. However this includes extras as we are going to Cornwall on Friday for a holiday with the family, so will take tea, sugar, milk, bread and butter with us. The rest we will get from a supermarket shop on Saturday. I'm hoping DiL will be making her fabulous shepherd's pie for Saturday dinner. BTW my £129 also includes a 21mg Niquitin BOGOF for £18. I noticed that the 14mg in Boots was £15.99 per pack so a decent saving there. I've just got to give up the fags so as to be able to keep the house warm.

Good luck everybody for the April challenge.

    Love the FM
  • This is my first attempt to post a message on any site so hopefully this will work. Me and the chaps at work (fire station) club together to run a catering club and take turns to get the provisions in. When it came to my turn I approached our local butcher whose products I knew to be excellent quality but way dearer than the supermarkets, I explained I would be buying in bulk and he gave me prices that I believe to be cheaper than supermarkets, £7ish for 2.27kg of decent bacon for example. I now order all my meat from him for work, home and friends to ensure my orders stay large enough to keep him happy and we all eat better, cheaper meat. A bit of an effort but worth it I think.
