just popped in after Britains Got Talent to catch up on some posts and to see how everyone's doing! i'm raring to go now for May's GC
well done everyone on April's :T
thanx for all the recipe ideas as well, its awful when you get stuck in a rut cooking the same thing all the time!0 -
made tuna fish cakes tonight from a recipe I found in a Somerfield mag. The recipe suggested using dried potato but I cooked some potates and mashed them and it got a big thumbs up with everyone. Served with salad. Less than 60p per person. Bought a few bits today. Will update sig tomorrow:p0

Hi all.
Was just wondering being a newbie do all these lovely recipes you mention appear in one place somewhere or is it a case of needing to cut and paste the ones I fancy trying as they are posted. I have noted down a few.
Had a baking day today. Managed tomato soup, a batch of chocolate/orange muffins and getting chicken cooked for tomorrows sandwiches. Off out for the day weather permitting!! Also baked a loaf of bread for tomorrow but now have put the BM on overnight as it has all been eaten!!!LOL at least its cheaper than buying bread.
Is the Lidls bread flour usually 48p or is it on special at the moment (if it is on special will stock up)Not going shopping till Monday when my may challenge starts. Am raring to go.
Good night all. Thanks to MSE savings we got to go to Disneyworld Florida.

Morning all!
Well done to all those under budget :T and better luck next time for those over!
MrsM - please can I declare £70.99 for Aprils budget :A . I get paid tomorrow and promise to stay out of the shops today :rotfl: . Please can you put me down for £75 for May. I've already meal planned for May ( and have stuff left over in the freezer).
Btw, I don't normally see this hour of the morning (unless I'm coming home), but this'll make you chuckle. My cat (bless her!) bought me a present last night (or had read the posts about catching her own :rotfl: ) the prob is that she hasn't got the killer instinct :rotfl: , so I had a little mouse running round my lounge! It shot off and I lost it - looked everywhere and couldn't see it, so convinced myself that it had legged it out the door and out the front door I'd left open! (I've a little 1 bed flat!) The cat was being a pita all night (I had my bedroom door closed - just in case) Just before 5 this morning I awoke to much squeaking - mr mouse had made an appearance and had been caught, my dippy cat then dropped it and it legged it in the bathroom and got behind the bath panel. I shut all the doors and tried to go back to sleep - but gave up just after 5. I went out to the kitchen about 20 mins ago and looked into the bathroom and found mr mouse in the bath. Grabbed a towel and the mouse and deposited outside with a warning to stay away :rotfl:
I need a lie down - the cat's oblivous and fast asleep on the sofa:rolleyes:
Have a great day folks!0 -
your post really made me smile this morning
hope everyone has a great day xx0 -
I'm a failure *sob* I came in at £261.06 a whopping £11.06 over budget. I made the fatal mistake of popping in to Mr Ts with Oh and DDs. 1 value alarm clock (£3.46), 1 multi charger (£6.97) and a 12 pack of ready to drink juice (£1.80) later I went over budget. Still £200 less than we'd normally spend and the freezwer is well stocked thanks to all yesterdays whoopsies.
Put me in for £250 again for next month please.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Ok well I'm over budget and declaring £68.52 as my total
Please can you put me down for £70 for May.
Decided the drop from 80 to 60 is just not do-able with the price rises etc and Ive got my parents coming to stay for a weekend and they spend every waking minute thinking about what they are going to eat so it costs me a fortune when they come to stay:o
Well done to everyone for taking part in the chalenge, :jto those who are under and :grouphug:to those that are overJune Grocery Challenge 270.80/250July Grocery Challenge 0/3000 -
MRSMC - can I please declare my total for the month as £249.22, and please put me down for £250 for MAY, many thanks. So pleased we came in under Budget, but I think with the price increases it will be harder this month but still got 2 Free Range chickens in the freezer, a leg of lamb and loads of mince which can be bulked out so still feel confident.
Thanks MRSMC for the Tortilla recipe, made them last night and they were soooooo yummy, so much nicer than any shop bought ones we've ever had and a lot healthier as no nasty chemicals in them.:T
Having Roast Pork today with all the trimmings, going to pick some more Rhubarb from the Garden to make a Crumble for Pud and DD1 making Choc Fridge Cake to slice up for Lunchboxes this week.:D
Have a great Sunday everyone, off now to make some dough for Rolls.
Also, forgot to say, for those who think they have "failed" the GC, you may be over on your targets but I'm sure you are all spending less than you used to and also, by making things from scratch we are all eating a lot more healthily so I think we are all succeeding.:A"WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

48p is the usual price in Lidl, might be worth grabbing a few bags anyway? With all the price rises it may go up soon:rolleyes:The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0
