Yes of course you are welcome Fiddling Petals, however I think it only fair DirectDebacle, that anyone in the 'We Adore NPower Club' is also allowed to post here without intimidation to join us. Life is far more interesting when you have variety of opinions!
Anybody like to stick up for NPower??? C'mon anybody???
Just noticed that the initals for the We Hate Npower Club are WHNC and the initials for the We Adore Npower Club are.... whatever were you thinking of Anne.
Of course minority groups are welcome.0 -

Yes it is definitely the old sculpting. Using the 'How to' leaflet, I get 622, 516, 235, 1741 units, pretty much spot on. Note that the leaflet starts quoting the profile from May 06 so the statement they started in December 06 contradicts their own leaflet.
Yes and my bills contradict your leaflet. No doubt they started sculpting in Oct 04 and definitely no breaks. Of course there would be an overcharge straightaway in year 1/04/04-31/03/05 as they went from flat rate to sculpt as happened last year.0 -
DirectDebacle wrote: »With refence to colonels email I am still trying to work out their fixation with December as the starting point. Total units for a year from 1/12/06-31/11/07 using the on/off/on method comes to 6007 high rate. Although they say they 'suspended' sculpting in May they never said they zeroed the 4572 and started a new tariff year. So is the alleged tariff year from Dec 06 - 31st October 07 or from Dec 06 to 4th Jan 08?
When I asked whether 'sculpting changes', 'price changes' or lunar eclipses triggered a new tariff year I was assured that it was only sculpting changes.
So the only resets would have been 1/5/07 and 1/11/07 (and 1/10/04). Yet again, the tariff year nonsense is only there to obfuscate. If they were serious about it they would have charged 4572 units in the 6 month tariff year and not 2286.0 -

I have absolutely no idea what you mean DirectDebacle, perhaps you would like to explain in FULL detail for all of us on this board???0 -
colonels old email was from the time before they invented the tariff year.
When I asked whether 'sculpting changes', 'price changes' or lunar eclipses triggered a new tariff year I was assured that it was only sculpting changes.

Depends whether you speak to the morning idiot or the afternoon incompetent, not worked out the shift pattern yet. I have been told both. Latest version I got, a couple of weeks ago was that only a price change triggered a new year re-set. I was even told by another that the 'sculpt' never changes and has been the same 'ever since I can remember' (they are tested to make sure their memory span is no more than 18.5 seconds) and whoever told me it had couldn't have worked there long. She then started to reel off the 06/07 percentages to me. This was towards the end of April! As I said before, unless you have something in writing you can't believe anything. What a shambles.
And when it is in writing you still can't believe it.0 -
In a rather patronising way, they explain that the seasonally weighted billing is a "somewhat complex issue"
It then gives a monthly list of the units charged, which add up to 4572. However, this is for 2008. My letter clearly states that I have been overcharged in 2007 and that I want my money back.
With regard to 2007 :
" ...more units were charged at the higher rate than normal in the summer period. This was taken into account when setting lower gas charges in April. "
"I trust my explanation of the way in which we calculate your bill is now clear. Should you wish ....... etc."
This seems to be the their way forward. Admit overcharge, but say that this was repaid via lower charges in April.
Any suggestions regarding response?0 -
Tell them you are pleased to hear that they had reduced their exhorbitant lower rate units, but that you were contracted to only 4572 higher rate units per annum, and that is all you are prepared to pay. Ask them if this is now their 'final response' and then advise them that you will be contacting the Ombudsman to escalate your complaint. (I believe I read somewhere that they will be charged £330 pounds for each complaint investigated).
Also ask them to provide full details of when they notified you of a change to their pricing scheme.
Welcome to the WHNC!0 -
Ask them to confirm that your complaint has now reached 'Deadlock'.
Tell them you will also be contacting The Energy Retail Association (ERA) with regard to their code of Practice for accurate bills.
