they were going well until this guy came home as up until that point I thought I had made my point to my female housemate and we had each compromised, but it seems I have two But_It_Always_Done_That_Way sort of people in the house ....

IKEA are supposed to be good quality arent they ... they certainly charge enough!!

Ouch just looked on John Lewis and theyre £120 but they look a lot thicker than what I found on Rosbys - they seem to be just mattress protectors.

Also put it into Google and they seem to be around the same price

I really hope I can get used to it now as I cant afford that!

    Any recomendations?

Mine cost me £60, or around there, for a double bed size and it was money very well spent! I used to be the same, back ache, stiff etc. The topper is gorgeous to sleep on, it's that memory foam stuff and sore backs are a thing of the past now. I got mine from a store which I think is local to Devon - it's called Rainbow, maybe you could google it and see if they deliver?

    Hope this helps!

The IKEA webpage is a bit of a pain, but the mattress toppers are here: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/categories/rooms/bedroom/10634/
and the tesco ones are here: http://direct.tesco.com/q/N.1999395/Nr.99.aspx?Ns=P_SORT_Price&btnResultSort.x=509&btnResultSort.y=240 it is something that's worth spending some money on - you can take it with you when you move, it means that you don't need to worry so much if you don't have a brand new mattress, and as you've found out, a bad night's sleep really ruins your day!

    I've been Money Tipped!
I've got a bad back and my memory foam topper has been a godsend:D. I would give up most things before you could get me to give it up!

Where to buy? Well, I'm ashamed to admit that I do drop in to the odd shopping channel (just for research you understand;) ) and have seen memory foam toppers selling on Price-drop and Bid-up (644 and 635 on Sky, not sure about Freeview) for around the £40 mark. They are a well known make and so it might be worth having a look on their website to see when they'll next be selling them.

I've bought stuff on there before and it's been good quality (no, I don't work for them) my only complaint is that p&p is a bit high - normally at least £7.99 which adds a bit.

If you get a chance, have a look.
Oh, and good luck with your back - keep it moving or it may seize up:eek: .

Oh just adding to this - the memory foam thing is probably a good idea (and don't forget you can keep it with you for however long is lasts). I do have a memory foam pillow and love it, although it took some time to get used to. You can buy memory foam toppers quite cheaply, I'm always seeing ads for them from various sources.

Have you had a look on ebay? Have bought some very good quality bedding and mattress toppers from there for much less than the prices you have been looking at. One thing I would say is, if you do tend to get very warm, be wary of the memory foam toppers as they do tend to retain heat. If you're always cold in bed, will be just the ticket.
