Dont get too excited all the people that got their PTI Europe payment refunded cos the correct payment will probably come out a few day later!! I got my PTI payment refunded a couple of days ago and AOL payment came out today, darn thought it was too good to be true that they would give me my money back! :o

I had two transactions debited by PTI, then debited by Amazon, then refunded by PTI Europe.

I phoned Amazon who admitted that PTI had debited transactions under their own name, and when they discovered their mistake redid the transactions under the amazon name and then refunded the money under PTI. (In my case DVD rental). I asked Amazon why they had not contacted their customers, and they said they were still looking into it. From this thread it would appear that PTI made the same mistake with other companies. It is fairly shocking that this was not communicated, my guess is that none of these companies would want any potential online bad publicity.
  • Ahhhhh.....mystery is solved, this has come to my attention today because I have had a good mooch around my bank accoutn looking for other tthings. Its a bit annoying that they took the money, then put it back without letting you know , then taking it out again on a different date.

In my case it was my Aol acount of £36.99. A lot of money when you presume its coming out on a date, then its not, then it is and you are not even aware. i am on a budget, sailing into the wind half the time....be easy for me to get charges if I didnt look closely and pay attention. Hmm....now I shall have to relook and see if it has come out and if not, then budget for it.

What a pain in the proverbial butt!
  • I also had a charge to my USA bank account- and then it was reversed.
when i aked my bank- via email- they said they had no more info.
I do not know what it was for. my google ads payment was lised separately.
    no amazon or AOL, etc======

Same as all you guys, wont bore you with the details but its for AOL.

Really surprised its not come up in the media, seems to be a huge issue that is going to effect millions of people...
  • It's the payment gateway for online purchases you've made, nothing illegal.

I can't really see what all the fuss is about.

The fuss is about no-one having the good manners to send a quick email out to all customers (amazon do it often enough with the ads for product sales!) to let us know that this has happened!

I like everyone else only saw this when i happened to see a credit into my account for £9.99 and seeings as i've not that many credits to my account it was quite scary for a while there thinking 'if i call that number then will that mean i'll be scammed' and its quite scary these days to see things you're not expecting in your bank statement. I then noticed the debit a few days earlier and the re-charge from amazon.

Yes because i've access to the internet, one google search later i've found this thread and am happy to see its a mistake.

But the POINT is i'm taking other customers word for it that this has happened and why it has happened. Where's the official notification?? I want an email from Amazon DVD rental (which my purchase is related to) telling me that this has happened.

Unfortunately they've waited so long now that its kinda pointless!

I too have just had £25 08 taken out and then paid back into my account and then the same ammount taken out again by AOL .. all well and good but I have noticed PTI europe are connected to vistaprints and thats another story as they have been frauduantly taking money out of peoples accounts for a while now and there are several threads about them on this site . I had problems with them taking money out of my account and it took ages to get money back !!
What worries me is how has vistaprints got anything to do with AOL or Amazon and are they going to start taking money out of our accounts like they have done in the past
All very strange if you ask me

My aunt recently purchased some Japanese software costing £30.58 from 'Transparent.Com'. The payment, however, has been taken twice from her bank account, the first time on 25th March by 'PTI Europe Region' and again on 31st March by 'DRI*Transparent.Com'. She contacted Transparent and they insisted that the payment had only been taken once even though she sent them a copy of her bank statement clearly showing otherwise. I have been looking into this for her and chanced upon this thread. What should she do next ? Do you think the mistake will be rectified and the money repaid into her bank account soon ? Any advice appreciated....

I placed an order with Amazon on 25 March, it showed up on my statement as PTI Europe, but on the 28th it was refunded. I haven't taken any action or cancelled the order or anything, and Amazon hasn't contacted me. Has this happened to anyone else? Perhaps they're just going to recharge me under the correct name...

Hi, my bank statement showed that I had paid £31.76 to Pti Europe Regional on March 26th. Then £31.76 was refunded on 31st March. My bank said that they had noted an error and that the Pti could refer to AOL, Weightwatchers or Amazon !
  • Guess I have to join the maybe scam by PTi Europe. I purchased posters from All Posters.com and there are now two identical debits from my account. Unfortunately All Posters stated they have nothing to do with it. I have yet to see an amount be put back into my account, so it is a trip to the bank. It would appear that this happened to many individuals about the same time, 25 March 2008 - which is interesting
However to my surprise when I re-checked with my bank, the money that PTI Europe had taken was credited to my account...but it took 6 days. So check with your banks
