same here with my £14.99 AOL payment, instead of AOL it said "Pti Europe Region GBP" went out on the 21st march as normal, then on the 28th it was credited back to the account it just said "correction",rang AOL they said my payment was taken OK and they have not credited my account.
    very puzzling???

As mentioned in my post above, the problem seems to be with a company called 2Checkout.com, based in Columbus, Ohio, who handle transactions for the likes of Amazon and AOL. They've made the error, and they are the ones who are refunding us. As they say on their website, the payments will go through with the proper merchant information before 1 April.

What I do find surprising is that this appears to have been a major !!!!-up involving large numbers of online shoppers and some of the biggest UK online companies. How come there hasn't been a single word about it in the press?

    More info about 2Checkout:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2Checkout.com
  • I have been refunded for about £50s worth of stuff.

I have to say I think this probably the best customer service I have ever received from any company :D

I'm half tempted to go on a bit of a shopping spree and see how much else it is possible to get away with!
  • My Ancestry quarterly subscrition has been refunded today. I had already queried the strange payment title with my bank but either they didn't know anything about it or weren't saying if they did!! Be interesting to see how long it takes for the correct payment to be taken.

Same with me.. checked my online statement and had a £7.00 debit on my account "PTI Europe Region"

Phoned the fraud number for Lloyds TSB and I was asked if I had AOL, I said no!!

She checked again and said it looks to be Nintendo Wii Charge,
Then I remembered I had purchased 1000 wii points on Nintendo wii console.

So for me the PTI Europe Region debit was for NINTENDO Purchase.
  • Went to transfer some money from 1 account to the other and noticed I had 2 debits on the 26th from PTI EUROPE, they retured the money so it probably was a clitch, maybe we'll hear something on the news about it. Not sure why they took money as I tend not to use this card.

Bit nerving how easy money can slip out of your account

Amazing what google will bring up!! This now pops up as the second link!!!

I typed PTI europe in, as I have had £19.99 taken out, then refunded to me. I dont remember buying anything recently for that amount, but if i have, and i have been reunded, i cant complain!!!

Now if only they would do the same for my loan direct debt
No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

no idea what my nerdnumber is - i am now officially nerd 229, no idea on my debt free date
  • I have had 2 payments of £9.95 made to clubprem.com, one on 11 February 2008 and one on 11 March 2008. I discovered this was a "scam" that is actually legal, it is a membership charge which i was not informed I would be making but apparently agreed to upon purchasing from VistaPrint.com.

I wrote a letter of complaint and received a response stating I will not be charged anymore and my membership has been cancelled. I received 2 credits of £9.95 to my account from PTI Europe Region on 19 March 2008, which was then debited on 29 March 2008. I presumed clubprem.com were using another alias to refund my money but apparently not.

If anything more happens I'll keep you all updated.

EDIT: I have just received 2 refunds from clubprem.com so I am still unsure as to what the PTI europe transactions were or why they were made.
  • I had the same thing in my statement - ordered from mothercare, the PTI Europe Region deducted money, got the ordered stuff and then the money were refunded after few days. Does that mean that now mothercare is going to take moeny off the account? I wouldn't mind if they leave it like that :)

In effect, yes. See Post #22 above.

Referring back to #8 a Visa DEBIT (dated 24 March) of £305 is now showing on my online statement !

All of this is making me dizzy   and the bank staff - who are usually brilliant at resolving problems :T - are being no help at all; I guess that's because they haven't a clue either

It's frightening the way we take something like online banking for granted ......................................................................
