So I should be able to get through this horrible craving as long as I keep reminding myself that I've got studio time to save up for. :)

I think having something specific you're keeping the money to put towards is an excellent way of stopping impulse purchases. Since going bankrupt I have managed to scrape together enough money to take driving lessons and pass my test (with some assistance from family it has to be said! But the bulk of it I saved myself). Despite rather kicking myself for not having paid for driving lessons on a credit card years ago instead of buying Japanese goth magazines (i'm joking - i wish I'd never bought anything on credit!) i felt a real sense of achievement. Likewise, I'm trying to save up money to pay for flights etc as i'm planning to work abroad for a year. I have no idea how i'm going to get the money together on my wages but I'm bloody well going to try!

I've seen a lovely little laptop which would be just perfect to take with me though ;) (the Asus EeePC - the new one's going to be about 300 quid (and yes, I'm sure i could get more for my money but it's tiny and light and looks really cool, which is of course the important thing!))
