    Am I mad? Yes.
Am I unfortunately spending too much time looking at HotUKDeals? Yes.
And is a new computer calling, actually yelling, my name? Yes.

    Hi WDIAG!

Since this computer item is not absolutely critical to your (basic) survivial, you will be okay living without it! I think you are doing great already curbing/fighting your impulse whereas previously you would have gone straight for it.

Now, take a deep breath, and switch the impulse off.

    Then forget about this computer.

If it helps, go and busy yourself with something else for a couple of hours that will take your mind off it and not think about it at all.

We need to educate ourselves with managing with less in our lives. It is possible and it is actually normal! We only want stuff, and more stuff because our consumer society brainwash us into it. Take (consumer) revenge and ignore offers that you can afford to ignore :)

    Hope this helps.

The beauty of PC kit (and I too plan to do a little upgrading in the near future) is that if you hold off now in a few weeks or months you'll get a much better spec for the same price or less. If you think you problem is just lack of memory (for your PC I mean!) well its now dirt cheap, so I'd try that first before succumbing to the temptation of a new shiny PC (which will be rapidly superseded by a even better shiny PC in the near future).

As a general point I too battle with my wants and needs on occasion, sometimes still mixing up which is which!

I've got plenty to get through the month, so buying this wouldn't mean doing without anything at all. I hardly spent anything during the last month, so I had a good bit left over. I got paid today, so the bank balance is looking the healthiest it has since I went BR. Plus I've got all the money I put in my savings tin (at least £400) from loose change, notes etc.

Then treat yourself! I'm sure you deserve it :D

PUT THE DEBIT CARD DOWN AND BACK AWAY FROM THE PC.
  • It's hard isn't it? I'm still struggling to change from my old "buy now, pay er......." mentality. I'm currently adopting the "walk away and see if I still want it in a week or 2" approach, which I appreciate is no good for you right now, with the offer ending in a couple of days.

Okay, firstly, can you afford it and not have to eat dust for the rest of the month? Yes.

Secondly, could you sell the old one to re-coup some of the money spent? No, because I'd still need them.

Thirdly, do you have a link? :o (not for me, per se, but am planning on possibly getting daughter a laptop for her birthday....... only looking for a pretty basic model though, am guessing "basic" is not a word to describe what you're looking at? ;) )
The link to the offer is here. :)
