How do you resist temptation when you're BR?

Thank you for that reminder that there'll be another bargain along soon. The beauty of PC kit (and I too plan to do a little upgrading in the near future) is that if you hold off now in a few weeks or months you'll get a much better spec for the same price or less. If you think you problem is just lack of memory (for your PC I mean!) well its now dirt cheap, so I'd try that first before succumbing to the temptation of a new shinny PC (which will be rapidly superseded by a even better shinny PC in the near future).
As a general point I too battle with my wants and needs on occasion, sometimes still mixing up which is which!
Computer stuff is the only spending I struggle with - I've got my household budgets sorted out, the bills are all paid on time, the rent is in credit, & I don't buy clothes unless I've got something specific to wear them for & actually need them. I've even got my addiction to chocolate sorted out, so that what was a daily fix is now something I touch maybe once every two weeks at most. But computers have a grip on my eyes that I can't seem to break.

There's no reason to replace them - it's just more memory they could do with, yet I can't get past wanting a new one. The only justification for an additional one is that the desktop was bought specifically for composing my music & is kept offline deliberately. That means I rely on the laptop for day-to-day computing & I'll freak if I'm ever without it because I have to use it for studying as well. The new pc would cost £250-£280 inc VAT & delivery depending on the configuration, but would have much better memory, storage (up to 1Tb) & better burning capabilities.
Do you know, it's a really tough one to call,
Praxis99's argument about laptops being superseded pretty quick is a good one.
You saying there's no reason to replace - but could do with more memory, makes me think, just buy more memory, admitting you're a bit mad :rotfl:makes me think take the debit card off him (only joking:D). Then saying your on top of your finances make me think, why not...
My conclusion... I think you want it, and agreeing with scarlett, sounds like a good price, plus you can afford it. BUT From the way you're typing you are having a battle with some old demons, and I think you need to open copious cans of wupp !!! on them and heavily beat them down!!!:D... If you still want a laptop in a few months time... then post another thread and we'll say no again!
Cheers

I made myself stay out of corner shops & newsagents for a month, because chocolates were too near my face for me to resist picking them up with a newspaper etc. I also wouldn't go to the shops in my lunch break. After a month without chocolate, I tried eating some (a lot actually) & felt very sick, so I stayed off it again for a few days. I've had some over Easter, but I felt ill eating it, so I know I won't be eating any more of it for a long time to come.tigerfeet2006 wrote: »WDIAG how did you get your chocolate addiction under control? Me too, never used to be though (well maybe when I was 13 and owed more wages off my paper round than I earned - i used to love twix's and mr.freeze lols (at the same time). I'm currently eating loads of 27p tesco dark digestives (300g packs and 1700kcals). I thought the other day, I could buy 3kg of biscuits for £2.70!! I think somethings wrong with me!:D:D:Dtigerfeet2006 wrote: »WDIAG how did you get your chocolate addiction under control? It's something I really struggle with.0 -
You're right, AmIdone4. I do actually want it, but I also know enough about me & my situation to realise I could do without it & could just upgrade what I've got. I'm not at the point of feeling guilty if I spend the money, because I'm not going to be doing without anything to pay for it, but I also can't stop arguing the toss about whether to order it or not, something that would never have happened before.

Cheers! Ithink I will have to try that. It's just that it is my "one weakness" and makes me feel good. Also have to tell my DH to stop buying it from Aldi  .BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0
