How do you resist temptation when you're BR?

The main thing I've struggled with is my liking for computer-related stuff, bargains & special offers.
I looked on another site & unfortunately became aware of some special deals for Dell computers. I've been checking that site every day (almost every hour
), & I've been SO tempted to place an order - it hasn't helped that I'm on leave from work, so I've actually got time to keep looking. In my pre-BR days, the order would have been placed on day one & I'd have probably had the thing by now. Thanks to going BR, I'm instead having this fight with myself every day - one hand reaching for the debit card, while the other one tries to change websites & stop me looking at what's on offer. I know I don't really need the computer, as getting some extra RAM would probably resolve any issues I've got with what I'm using now & would cost well under £100, yet I'm finding it so hard to resist buying one.
The special offer deals end on 27 March, so I've only got 2 days to get through until the temptation to buy one will go. Once the "bargain" deal is over, I know I won't be tempted until the next one comes along. But it's getting through to the end of 27 March that's doing my head in.....

How much is the laptop?
edit: and how old is your current pc/laptop?0 -
If you can afford it, grab that bargain, if you can't, don't do it!!
BUT, it's not a bargain if it means you won't have enough money to get through the month.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
WDIAG - are you mad???? Have you lost the plot??? If you are like me that is why I got in this mess!!!
Window shopping only !! (did you say Dell? I`ll check it out!....only joking!!)

I still have moments like this ALL THE BLUMMING TIME
Most of the time I stick to "do I need it?" and if I do then I work out whether I can afford it. Sometimes that means eating value beans on value toast for the rest of the month as was the case when I went on holiday. And before anyone says anything I NEEDED that holiday, believe me!
So I think if you need it to the point where you can do without other things for that month i.e. food (!) clothes etc then I will allow myself to have it, other than that it's a big NO NO!!Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -
It's hard isn't it? I'm still struggling to change from my old "buy now, pay er......." mentality. I'm currently adopting the "walk away and see if I still want it in a week or 2" approach, which I appreciate is no good for you right now, with the offer ending in a couple of days.
Okay, firstly, can you afford it and not have to eat dust for the rest of the month?
Secondly, could you sell the old one to re-coup some of the money spent?
Thirdly, do you have a link?
(not for me, per se, but am planning on possibly getting daughter a laptop for her birthday....... only looking for a pretty basic model though, am guessing "basic" is not a word to describe what you're looking at?
) You can't control everything in life....... your hair was put on your head to remind you of that

I really fancy this nice big 42" LCD screen i've seen so i can see my xbox360 games in full hd for a change (instead of on my old 28" crt), oh and that nice new blue ray player etc etc etc etc etc etc. Luckily only having cash now helps the willpower out.Life is like a game of Snakes & Ladders, i almost made it to the top but now i'm at the bottom again and its a very long ladder to the top. I had it all and now its gone
Well my 6 years are now up, now to start to rebuild my life again

I've got a laptop, which is a year old, & a desktop which is about 9 months old, if that. There's no reason to replace them - it's just more memory they could do with, yet I can't get past wanting a new one. The only justification for an additional one is that the desktop was bought specifically for composing my music & is kept offline deliberately. That means I rely on the laptop for day-to-day computing & I'll freak if I'm ever without it because I have to use it for studying as well. The new pc would cost £250-£280 inc VAT & delivery depending on the configuration, but would have much better memory, storage (up to 1Tb) & better burning capabilities.Hi WDIAG

I've got plenty to get through the month, so buying this wouldn't mean doing without anything at all. I hardly spent anything during the last month, so I had a good bit left over. I got paid today, so the bank balance is looking the healthiest it has since I went BR. Plus I've got all the money I put in my savings tin (at least £400) from loose change, notes etc.peachyprice wrote: »If you can afford it, grab that bargain, if you can't, don't do it!!

I have to say that was my downfall buying on line. In bored moments i booked holidays which i later cancelled ect ect. It is so easy. DON'T DO IT.
