Dogs can't digest vegetables unless they have been frozen first or pulped if fresh (in a food processor) to break down the cellulose....if you feed whole fresh veggies they will pretty much come out exactly as they went in.0

My 2 dogs (1 x staffie and 1 rescue dog cockerpoo lookalike) both enjoy their sunday roasts. They have whatever meat we are having that day with finely chopped up carrots, parsnips and cabbage. It was a piece of beef this weekend and they loved it. You dont hear a peep out of them until the bowls are empty. They also love chicken and rice. I buy a whole chicken just for them and get about 3 meals out of that with boil in the bag rice mixed in. Particular favourites of theirs are lamb hearts. Sound yuk but I actually love the smell of them whilst they are cooking. The pigs hearts are usually huge so they get a couple of meals out of them.
Mrs Pepperpot - Ive never given my dogs bones? I read such conflicting reports - yes some do and thats great and others dont cause of the risk of bones splintering! I havent been brave enough to give either of them any bones to be honest. But each to their own.0 -
Also grapes are known to be toxic to dogs also aswell as raisens and other dried fruit.
Cooked bones can be lethal to your dog and splinter the gut so always feed raw bones.

we feed our dog on dry food, with leftovers and treats added. he also loves chewing on bones, although the last one we brought home is still burried in the garden.
i have also read that blue cheese is toxic to dogs, lucky its only a treat for me so he only tried it on one occassion. oops - i have learnt my lesson.0 -
Hi, just wondering if anyone can recommend a dry food for my 11 month springer spaniel? He is currently on Beta puppy, but i want to move him onto an adult one as beta puppies protein content is 29%, no wonder hes hyper! so ideally one with a lower protein content. x0

Hi,
I was recommended James Wellbeloved from the lady at the puppy class where i used to take my springer as she was totally hyper, once i changed her food she was a lot calmer - well in springer terms!! James is all nateral & has always seemed quite good to me.
All the best

I dont know where your from but as were in a rural part of the country (Devon) we just go to the local farm shop and buy a working dog mix. The vet reccomended this as theres no additives and its super cheap!Green and White Barmy Army!0
