We called out the council drain department once for a blocked drain. Their answer was ...a mop! Have used it successfully ever since.

A plunger is handy to have around for all sorts of drain issues. They are cheap, too. I'd try it before anything else.
  • I just tried for ages and what finally worked was tipping a bucket of water down and immediately plunging .

Why are you commenting on a three year old post? What goes on in your head?

You could use a curtain net cord which is flexible to go round the U bend etc.
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D

Probably they, like me, found this thread on google and wanted to comment that it was helpful! sheesh.

How can commenting on a three year old thread be useful? I'm sure people don't think "I know, I'll ask someones advice on Martins Lewis's MSE Forum and wait three years for the answer. In the mean time I'm going to carry on cr*pping in my blocked toilet and when my bathroom floor is completely covered in last weeks Roast beef and yesterdays Guiness and Curry extravaganza, I'll think about sh*tting in carrier bags and hurling it over next doors garden".

As far as I know, there has not been a major breakthrough in the technology of unblocking toilets in the last couple of years.

Do we really need to keep restarting the same thread every time somebody blocks a karzi ?

I do wish some posters would search the forum before restarting the same old queries (have a look at the Tax Saving threads of you need an example, at least over there HMRC and the courts regularly change the rules to keep "extracting the maximum of feathers with the minimum of squawking".)

    "blocked toilet” site: forums.moneysavingexpert.com
    pasted into Google gives
    About 759 results (0.35 seconds)
