Slight deviation of topic but does anybody think these prizes risk becoming taxable if there's a change in regime after the General Election?  One of the benefits of Ernie is that all winnings are tax free.

Anything is possible I suppose but I'd say unlikely.  One of those things that's not worth spending time thinking about until it is actually happening.  And if some think tank starts talking about it, I would still ignore it.

Does anyone else hold an uncommon number of bonds e.g. 49991 to make it easier to locate themselves (or not!) in the big winners list each month?

You can save the big winner's list as a Microsoft Excel file and filter for number range. Er..not that I've ever done it of course...oh no...not me...no sir...!!
My wife wrote a nifty app that automatically downloads the big winning numbers, then compares against our bonds so it can tell us to retire without any unnecessary delay!!

Current rolling 6 month return 7.9% thanks to a £1000 prize and quite a few £100s in recent months so been doing quite well of late.

I believe NS&I attempt to contact the £1m winners the day before the winning bond numbers are released.

Sadly I can't tell you from personal experience if that is true :-(

I've just checked my spreadsheet as it's 5 years that both OH and I have both had a full holding. In that time, I've averaged £90 a month, and he has £103. Which seems quite a difference over 60 draws. We all know that every bond has an equal chance of winning (or not), but I'm beginning to wonder if his small number of big blocks, as opposed to my fairly significant number of small blocks and just a few big blocks has any bearing on our differing success rates. Probably not, but it does make me wonder.

I think we may both have had one £500 prize, but nothing larger than that for either of us.

Hi - looking for some advice regarding Premium Bonds.

I had a decent win this month - 6 prizes for a total of £275. Just one slight problem, I have set my account to reinvest winnings but was only £225 under the max of £50k at the time of the draw.

So £225 has been reinvested to take the total up to £50k, but there's no information on the account about what happened to the other £50 (2 x £25 wins).

I have since withdrawn £2k into a 5.06% savings account I have to avoid this happening again. That has come through, but still no sign of the £50 I won. I assumed it would just appear in my current account by now but starting to worry that it won't at this stage! Anyone been in this position before that can advise how to sort it? Thanks.

It’s still only the 7th of the month, payment into current accounts usually happens around 8th to 10th in my experience so maybe wait a few days more before contacting them.
