While we are bashing NS&I, surely it's about time they started announcing the entirety of the prizes on the first working day of the month

Just cruising through the winner list in hope, rapidly developing into disappointment, I spotted this one near the top - just goes to show that a small holding playing the long game can come out on top:

    Prize:  £100,000
     [Bond No.] Total holding:  £300
      Berkshire  Bond Value:  £300  Purchased:Aug-98

Someone else with £100 holding for 8 years won £50k and £118 since 1974 won £25k.  I always feel that those are the ones that will make most difference - possibly bought for children and forgotten about.

Doubt things are ever likely to speed up.  Arnt most civil servants working from home these days?

Not sure if this comment is tongue in cheek but irrespective of when prizes are announced I think you will find that NS&I admin is mostly contracted out to the private sector. So these 'civil servants' working from home don't even exist.

Does anyone else hold an uncommon number of bonds e.g. 49991 to make it easier to locate themselves (or not!) in the big winners list each month?

It does seem that Premium Bonds affect many people's ability to think and act rationally so you may not be alone!

You can save the big winner's list as a Microsoft Excel file and filter for number range. Er..not that I've ever done it of course...oh no...not me...no sir...!!

I've filtered by area of the country - works better if you are in a relatively sparsely populated area.

I've an uncommonish number because we use them as working capital, and all prizes are reinvested. I take out round numbers, so it always ends in a 5 or a 0.

    Good luck everyone.

My best month to date at £350 on £22k holding.  3 x £100 and 1 x £50.  Brings my rolling year total return to 7.04%.  41 prizes in total in 26 draws, only 6 blank months.  This month's prize covers the price of a lens I just bought, which I was feeling a bit guilty about.
