To be fair, the rest of that post illustrated that the thread starter was actually interested in validating their theory that newer bonds are luckier than old ones so wanted people to share details of how long they'd held bonds for as well as winnings, i.e. it wasn't originally intended as a simple 'show and tell' thread but to support analysis of the age of winning bonds:justwantedtosay said:
You say that as if it's wrong for people to report their winnings but the original post was asking for exactly that;2010 said:
It won`t be quite from tomorrow when we have the monthly.RedImp_2 said:This thread should become a lot quieter then with all these people cashing their holdings in. Although seems some people like to still come on here and offer their advice
" I won X amount on X amount holding".
and "Nothing this month on X amount holding"."im interested in winning premium bond holders , or not as the case may be , please post your winnings and holding..."
Having said that, the theory about newer bonds being luckier has been debunked repeatedly over those 18 years (during which something like 98% of all bonds have been purchased)!trademark said:im interested in winning premium bond holders , or not as the case may be , please post your winnings and holding as well as length of time held , i have a theory that newer bonds win more prizes...0 -
Second month in a row with no prize for me so cashing in all but £50 as I have had below average ‘luck’ and require some income from the money I had in PB.1

But if there are two £1,000,000 prizes and there are (for example) 10,000,000 bonds and 1,000,000 of those are cashed in then that must slightly increase my chances of winning. Which is a nice thought.Eirambler said:
No, it just means the number of prizes are reduced and the win % stays at the same rate.christmaslights said:Out of interest, if loads of people cash in their bonds as they’re saying here they might do so that there are fewer bonds for Ernie to pick from, does that raise the likelihood of winning for the people who remain?0 -
A drop in eligible bondholders (if it happens - as above it hasn't this month) would indeed slightly improve your chances of winning £1m, as the number of £1m prizes is fixed, but the chances of winning any prize remain the same at 22,000 to 1 per bond (from the next draw onwards, it's been 24,000 to 1 up to now).christmaslights said:

I miss the surprise of the warrants dropping through the letterbox - though I don't miss the trip to the bank to pay them in!
Now I like the surprise of the 'you've just won' email popping up in my inbox

I did get a couple of paper warrants last month for wins to an estate account I'd cashed in as executor - just for £25 each. Don't even know why they weren't paid to her as they were both from wins over a year ago. Nor do I know why the value wasn't just paid into the bank, along with the value of her holding. They seem to make work for themselves - and they were sent separately.
