Is the best* way to buy PBs to use a debit card?

    * Easiest, fastest, safest?

Ok to buy £40k in one go?
That depends on the bank, I have done 20k on a card in the past I think. Once you go past 20k some banks don't like it.

    It would be Santander.  Issues?
My wife bought £50k worth earlier this year on her Santander debit card with no issues.

All done!!   Quick, easy and painless, like you said.    Just an OTP code needed as verification.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)
  • Had 50k for 4 years. I cashed out last month after never having 'won' a penny. Invested elsewhere.
Seems extremely unlikely (like lottery-winner levels of unlikeliness). I would say either you have an out-of-date address registered with NS&I or your prizes have been paid into an account you haven’t noticed, or both.

Did you check for unclaimed prizes before you cashed in?

    Really.......you sure it wasn't £5k

    £25 on £16k
If it's not adding up, compound it!
  • My wife on 50K invested has received nothing in aug or sept. I think that because of the low inteest rates around at the moment, they should consider paying only one of the million pound prizes and share the other million around the lower prizes. Perhaps more of us would win small amounts and others would be encouraged to invest, this would benefit all of us long term investors.
Trying to learn something new every day.

    ;)
  • Replacing the £1 mill prize with £25 prizes would increase the 3,189,365  £25 prizes in this draw by 40,000, so I don't think it would that noticable.

I've wondered about that too.  I suppose, apart from anything else NS&I wouldn't want the increased monthly administration of 40,000 extra prizes, especially as most government institutions still seem to have most of their employees still working from home.  However, I suppose there are a lot of people struggling at the moment who have modest holdings who would welcome even a £25 prize out of the blue.

I wonder what will happen if we start to see sustained increases in interest rates available in mainstream easy access unlimited accounts.

    A rush to withdraw?

Currently at an annualised 0.945% since investing 11 months ago so I am better off compared with easy access accounts.
