  • £25 on £10k holdings

Can anyone point me in the right direction please to work out the rate of return - I'm thinking some sort of XIRR formula but I'm out of practice!
  • Easy enough to work out in your head or with a calculator. If you work on a 12 month period, on your holding of £10k, if you win £100 in that period your rate of return is 1%. If your only win is that £25 in that period your rate of return is 0.25%

Thanks. Yeah, i have that - was more thinking of future proofing the formula. Am drip feeding bits of spare cash in at the moment so the 10k is made up of deposits from Nov - July, was hoping to get a more accurate return formula to take in to account any future deposits and any winnings.

26 wins in 12 months =£650 on £50k =1.3% net.  I pay tax on savings, so approx. equivalent to a 1.625% fix for me.

I know it's not really a fix but I'm avoiding the MSE tendency to hair splitting, like 'Not equivalent 'cos it isn't compounding...'.

This month 2 x £25 on £19,800 holding. Started off with £500 holding in November 2019 and winnings before this month have been:
    £25 June 2020
    £25 Nov 2020
    £25 Jan 2021
    2 x £25 March 2021
    2 x £25 August 2021

In a couple of weeks I'll be topping up my holdings to the maximum of £50K

WOW, that's some seriously bad luck.   Whose black cat did you kill?

Are you sure you haven't had a sneaky win you didn't know about?

I can't crunch the numbers, but what are the odds of not winning anything in 4 years on a max £50k holding?
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

The premium bond calculator can crunch the numbers. It’s so unlikely I don’t believe it happed, maybe they didn’t notice the odd £25 dropping into a random bank account.

Over just 1 year the chance of winning nothing is 1 in 35.7million.

    I don't believe it either.

Nothing on 50k for me this month. Been in 9 draws now since January with an average of £38,656 invested and only the second time I’ve had nothing, won a total of £675,
