Is there a "formula" for buying? One big block, or a few smaller ones? All blocks in the same month, or spread over a few months?
It makes absolutely no difference (other than the fact that staggering purchases over multiple months lowers your chances by virtue of missing some draws), so ignore any old wives tales to the contrary....
  • 2nd £25 win for me this year. None prior to 2021.

Current holding is £6800. I add £100 to my bonds monthly by standing order (started in 2016 and have increased monthly savings over that period, with an occasional small lump sum).

Is this a normal range to win in based on my holding? Not complaining, just wondering.
  • to state the bleeding obvious, if the average gain is 0.9% over a year, means that some people are going to get above this and many more will achieve less. personally im gonna keep my £5000 in cos im sure im gonna win 1 million next month

Not really, the fact that 0.9% is the median return should theoretically mean that the same number should be higher than lower.  However, much depends on how many actually achieve exactly that 0.9%, i.e. how wide that band is....

    Good month, 2 x £25 & 3 x £25 between Mrsm & me on £13K & £21K  :)
2 of my winnings from batches bought in the past few months - one being its first outing - and one from my 1994 vintage buy.

Nothing on two max holdings.  Not doing well since buying PBs at the start of the year

£50k for me and £50k the OH, nothing for 6 months, also talked to two seperate people last weekend with maximum holdings and both of them have had nothing for many months.

So taking our holding alone thats £100,000 for 6 draws so 600000 entries and not a single £25 win.

If working on 1% £500 would be the average over 6 months or 20 x £25 wins since 99% of prizes are £25.

No way in the world is this random, large holdings recently  get massively lower proportinate wins.

I expect with them knowing they  far exceeded their sales target they are trying to get £50k holders to cash in .

I know after tomorrows smaller wins are made public we will be cashing in.

Nothing from £50k over 6 months is chance of about 1 in 5798, so unlikely but not impossible.  Nothing from two max holdings is very unlucky.  But it's definitely not targeted at all max holders - my return is in line with the average over the last 8 months.  Maybe they are just getting at you?
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.
