    Had 11k for 4 months.

    Month 1 2x£25
    Month 2 1x£25
    Month 3 0
    Month 4 1x£100
  • It seems I am the unlucky one.
Hold £5000 for near two year now, only get 2X£25 so far

Sorry justforlaugh, invested £5k at end of November, 'won' £25 this month in first eligible draw. Probably the last for a while.
  • If it’s not a random thing, it’s all one enormous swindle perpetrated against the public for the last 60 years.
Amazing to see the number of people on here who are happy to believe it’s not random, and don’t seem to object to the apparently deceptive advertising.

My previous bank manager had the full holding in premium bonds, it was many years ago when I think the limit was around £20K. Every 18 months she would cash in and reinvest. She was happy to lose a month in the draw as she was convinced that the prizes started dropping off after about 12 months.

Irrational or totally sensible? I don't know, but in her position she was very clued up on finance & it seemed to work for her.

    Irrational.

While a bank manager may (and indeed should) be clued up on finance, that doesn't give any privileged insight into NS&I's random number generation and application, so she would appear to have been yet another victim of the old wives' tales that get bandied about on here and elsewhere, that are debunked at https://www.nsandi.com/ernie, such as:
Myth: Only new Bonds win prizes
Each £1 Bond has an equal chance of winning, regardless of when or where it was bought. Over 95% of eligible Bonds have been bought since the year 2000. So even though Premium Bonds have been on sale for over 60 years, this is why newer Bonds seem to win more frequently. When ERNIE randomly generates winners, he doesn’t store any numbers, so there’s no way any Bonds can be left out.

Myth: Old Bonds are left out of the draw
Winning numbers are generated randomly and then matched against eligible Bond numbers afterwards – numbers aren't entered into or stored in ERNIE so there's no way that any Bonds can be left out of the draw.

£25 on joint holding of 60k. Not exactly get rich quick :o.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I think we’ve just learnt why the banks crashed in 2008. This person is a bank manager. Blimey.
