Does anyone know what happens if you win a big amount such as £100k, I know they don't re-invest it automatically as that stops at £5000, but wondered how they contacted you.

I know they have a person who visits if you win the million. There was a documentary about it, the person could only tell the winner, not a partner which meant she had to be very diplomatic if the winner was a man and she was talking to his partner. Why else would a strange women want to talk to your husband but would not tell you why?

My fella won £100,000 in may.

He got a letter on the 3rd telling him he'd won and asking him to send the winning bond in. He did and the money (apart from his reinvestment) went into his bank within 2 days I think.

It is good to hear about someone actually winning a big prize - bet it was a fantastic feeling! Well done.
Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

  • when i win a million all of you can have a pound!
    I Don't like you!
  • Just got 2x £50 cheques yesterday... one for OH and one for me :)

This is the third month "in the draw" since we purchased an additional £10,000. I decided to do it and see what happened over 12 months. In order to make 3% over the year we need another £200... so I guess it's not a bad start (although we're really hoping for "the big one" of course :))

OH and I now have a total holding of, I think, £10,161 between us.

Lol! With £100 you can expect ONE prize per 20 years and you're sad at 7 months of nothing, unreal. Plus, your 'stake money' is losing value due to inflation.

...and the bond was a single, solitary, on its own £1 purchase. Also the oldest bond in the higher prize list.

... and was the only higher prize winning bond bought before April 1985 (bought in Aug 60).

    :)
