Both million prize winners from Leicester for some reason
The reason is that the owners of the two randomly drawn numbers both live in Leicester.
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

I once won £25 on a holding of less than £21 (it was a long time ago, and I got Premium Bonds as presents).

With small holdings winning is totally random; with large holdings, it's still totally random, but tends to cluster round the statistical expectation.

So that's the equivalent of holding £13,929 for one month.

    58 x 12 x 20

Not sure what that tells us, but there you go.

Anyone here won one of the bigger prizes before?

I've had £500 twice many years ago!

Nothing again for me this month.

I have PB in various denominations £1 , £5 , £10, etc. Also one holding of £10k on one bond, over the course of the years I have had a number of prizes max £100 one month.

Now whilst I realise the draw is random it is very interesting to note that all my winnings have been from numbers in the £10k batch.
So much so that I am tempted to cash in all the small holdings and consolidate them into a higher rate bond.

I wonder if this would help my chances?

What proportion of your entire holding is the £10k bond? I suspect over 90%, if so then having over 90% of your wins from that bond would be entirely expected, and 100% well with probability.
Cashing in your small bonds would not improve your chances, and would in fact slightly lessen them, as you would be out of a draw.

The £10k is only 30% of total, so wins are against the expected odds.
Guess it must just be a lucky range😕
  • Hi all, new to this thread. I was given a small holding of premium bonds when i turned 18 from my mother. since then i have been adding small amounts by standing order ever since. Currently own £10k worth in bonds ranging from £1000, to £200 sizings.

Can anybody explain to me how the size of the bonds you buy in one go can affect your chances? e.g. is better to buy £200 a month or wait and buy £1000 every 5 months? So confused! appreciate any help :)
