One of the 1 million pound winners purchased £8K in April 2013 ( 16 months ago) It looks as though they have since won £175 in bonds making their total holding £8175 before hitting the jackpot this August! Some people are born lucky!!

Just received an email from NS&I regarding the new prize money distribution. This extract says it all.

    # "We will allocate 7% of the prize fund to higher value prizes, 5% to medium value prizes and 88% to lower value prizes (previously 5%, 4% and 91% respectively)"

This means that the chances of winning a £25 prize has become even more remote. Many would have preferred that the extra £1 Million prize money had been distributed among the lower prizes. The occasional win of even the paltry £25 would be an incentive to keep the bonds.
    :(

the prize fund is £3.5m bigger though so there are more £25 winners than there were before.

Looks like 3x £25 for me, by checking my online account (draw checker only showing up to July's draw as far as I can see). If that's indeed the case, it makes it a great run over the past few months :) .

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

This gets asked regularly if you register on the NSand I site you will find out whether you have won a couple of days before the winners page is updated. You will also have the option of having your winnings paid into your bank direct which happens at least a week before the cheques get sent out in the pot luck postal system

If you register online you can go in and check your account - prizes show there before before they go onto the website
