HI
I just wanted to know that do bond holders need to check every month themselves if they have won anything or do you get contacted by NS&I if you have won a prize?0 -
Hi Don, if you win anything they will send you out a cheque. If you win the millions they will ring you and be there on the 1st of the month.
I've won £50 a couple of times, and the cheque normally gets here by the 20th of the month. If i remember correctly furthur back in this thread a lady's husband won £100,000 and they got the cheque a couple of days after the 1st of the month.

TrickyMicky wrote:Well this month is another to prove you can get nowt out of 28k yet again, 2nd month in draw with 28k and 2nd month a blank, how does this go towards the prove that "new bonds win more" theory, also this month has just reduced the prize draw so looks like I will have to help with the reduction in the prize and move my money. or buy a boat or somthin and enjoy it.
Sorry, but how do you know you haven't won this month?
The online checker isn't updated until Monday.

That's just the high value prizes though - the £100s and £50s will be on the NS&I site from Monday - never know, you could have won a 1,000 £100s...0

Don't know about stats but your expereince matches mine. Held the max and for first 2 years was getting ~ 4% return, one or two £50 cheques regularly. This gradually faded to 2% over next two years and I cashed them in when I had only received £200 over whole of next 2 years for max holding.think it was still 20k then. Bear in mind that when someone with a small holding wins the 1 million pound prize their very high return is only possible by others getting a very poor, or nil, return as % return of prize fund is set.0

A friend of mine won 10k a few years back. Got a letter saying had to send the actual bond to claim the prize, the bond was returned with the cheque, presumably to prove current ownership?andy74656 wrote:I've won £50 a couple of times, and the cheque normally gets here by the 20th of the month. Ta but not on the major prize winners board, an easy check as my numbers are consecutive in two blocks, however did notice a couple of winners just before me and just after me in number order and purchased about the same time. my numbers begin 107 which is march 2006 , The winners bonds were also purchased in march & april 2006 and started with 107 - 109, wonder how close I actually was and how many bonds get bought each month. Yep I might still have won a £50 or so but not really the return I was lookin for, Five or six small wins a month I would be happy, 1 small win in two months is not good, and no win is complete rubbish considdering the amount invested.iwantosave wrote:you can check with the bond numbers already published - just look for the county of residence and the total holding - if it matches your total holding, then woopee
