£25 for me this month, that's £75 in six months on a holding of £2.5k. :)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

Nothing again this month.... Im thinking if I get nothing for July, might be worth looking at a long term bond.

I bought my first handful of premium bonds in 1959. In those days you could buy them singly, in £1 multiples and most of mine were were for £1, £5 or £10, so it stands to reason with so few of them I wasn't likely to win many prizes. I won my first £50 prize on one of them in November 1995 - a 36 year wait! Over the years I've increased my holding as a tax free investment and my more recent purchases over the past few years have won more prizes but I think this is due to random luck rather than the length or time (or lack of it) that I have held them. I note the date of purchase, bond value and any prizes I've won on a spreadsheet so that I have a record of what I have got.

I have all my prizes reinvested as I'm not expecting any big ones. The shortest time I've ever waited for a prize was when I won £50 one month, had it reinvested, and the following month, because reinvested prizes don't have to wait for a month before becoming eligible, one of those reinvested bonds won me another £50.
