I have £1100 and intend to add £100 a month. I have held them since September 2005, never won a bean.
Mind I also have a dabble on the Lotto and do £4 a week but forget most of the time. But I have never even won £10 on that... may day will come..

Wow Vlad24 & Hopefulmillionaire, your not doing too bad? do u have the maximum in?
I had ~£3000 in for this draw and have won £50.
I also won £50 when i only had £400 in. This is my sixth draw, so £100 in 6 months aint too bad, bearing in mind i have been building it up every month from £0.0 -
£150 win .... 3x £50 for march .... first time ive won 3 prizes in one month ..
Holding is now £13,400
Still investing £1000 per month and the prizes are generally coming from the newer bonds ?????0 -
My son has £100 bond and he is now 6 and has never won, I have 200 bonds and have never won, my parents have 1000 and have never won, but then you have to be in it to win it a friend of mine has about 20k plus and she wins all the time, i think it is a case of the more raffles tickets you buy the more likely you are to win i aspire to have 25k worth one day i will but i will just keep hoping in the meantime XXX0

I'm sure this has been stated before, but premium bonds shouldn't really be seen as a lottery, since the odds are atrocious.
They're really only of use to high taxpayers who have maxed out on their ISAs and who can afford to put 30K into them. Even then, you should only expect to "win" 3% per back annum.
There's a 1 in 24,000 chance of winning even just £50, so you have to have at least 24,000 to expect a prize on a monthly basis. And even then it isn't guaranteed, like it would be in a savings account.
Those of you with investments of a couple of hundred quid - you're wasting your time. Seriously.0 -
