Premium Bond Winner ?

Thank you, CGG. Not that I'm among them.0

I think it's a waste of time investing in premium bonds in the hope of getting a big winner unless you have a fair wadge of cash elsewhere earning a reasonable interest rate and you're just investing for fun of having a gamble. I have a fair chunk of money in premium bonds and regularly get small prizes - either £50 or £25 but most of my cash savings are in fixed term bonds which get moved around fairly regularly to get the best interest rates, so my premium bonds are my one gamble, since I refuse to support the Lottery where there's absolutely no change of getting my money back.0

Holding some bonds as a gamble may make sense, but you really should think about getting some into savings.
If you'd put £10,000 into a fixed rate account a year ago, you'd now be receiving over £500 interest (after tax).
I have held the full £30,000 since Jan 08. Up to Dec 08 I won a total of £1,000. From Jan 09 to Aug 09 I won £300
I have won nothing in the last 3 draws so I took the lot out in early August and I've put the £30,000 into Principality's 5.11% 3 year fixed rate bond.

IMHO taking in to account your winnings you seem to have done quite well with your bonds, certainly a hell of a lot better than I have, given your luck I would have left them in!
Nowt for me or the wife yet again!0 -
I've had the maximum in bonds for for years and regularly won at least one prize almost every month. Some months it was more. Biggest prize was £200, but they all mounted up and I was satisfied with the tax free income. However, I have had no prize since April. That's five months with nothing. So I'm selling up and moving the money somewhere that pays for my cash!!0

I thinking of selling too - ths is my third month without a win0
