The winner – whose identity is kept a closely-guarded secret – said: “This is such a great surprise. I put some money into ERNIE when I retired hoping Premium Bonds would boost my monthly income but I never expected to win big!
“I will definitely treat myself with some of the winnings, maybe a holiday.”
The winner was told last night in person by Agent Million, the mystery person who pays a personal visit to the winner to give them the good news.
sounds to me that someone from nsi wrote this ...... i have a bad feeling about the big prizes and if they are actually won or not
does anyone know of a big winner ? ..... why do they not ask them to go public ?.... some lottery winners do and camelot love it ....
ive never seen or heard of a winner ...even after scouring the net ....nothing on tv ... nothing in the papers ...just a para or two on the nsi web page ......

Hi All
After recently investing in PB I won £50 in the first draw, December, and 2 x £50 in January. Here's hoping February will be third time lucky for the big one!

Hello
I've been logging onto this site for ages but have not until now posted anything!!! Here goes...
I too am lucky enough to have the max £30k in premium bonds - sold a house and put the lot in. Am currently a full time law student - so probably one of the better off students!!
I agree with a lot of the previous posters. I too thought i would put in my £30k and be guaranteed a big prize - but no. In reality i have only ever had a maximum of £100 win - normally £50 a month and some months no win at all.
Invested in June 2005 from then
July 2005 - £100 (2 x £50)
Aug 2005 - £100 (2 x £50)
Sep 2005 - 0
Oct 2005 - £50
Nov 2005 - £50
Dec 2005 - 0
Jan 2006 - £50
I noticed that since Alan Sugar did the TV advert in July/Aug - winnings seem less - due to massive interest in them. They used to be called Britains best kept secret - not any more!!
I also thought like many of you that if you bought in big blocks (i.e. £5k blocks) that you have consecutive numbers and a better chance to win.
Oh well. It is nice to look forward to the 1st of the month anyway.
Cheers

I am a student with £6000 that I quite fancied buying some Premium Bonds with. I seem to get a fairly poor rate of return from my ISA and PBs seemed like a good idea as you also have a chance of winning big.
Should I invest in PBs or put it in a savings account? (as I wouldn't have to pay tax?) I've looked at Martin's articles and tips on high-interest savings accounts and am pretty bamboozled to be honest. I don't need instant access to this money...anyone any advice on which accounts on whether I should just plump for Premium Bonds?0 -
If you have "average luck", you'll only be in front if you're a higher-rate taxpayer. I've ended up with about the same return as a decent savings account, but only need to win a grand (or more) to be well up...0
