Not done much flying today. Will now go off to do a quick blitz.
JillD on the books front, have you read any Anne Tyler? Quite prolific, Digging to America is about 3 generations of an Iranian family, mainly focused on granma who still has Iranian outlook despite 20+ yrs of living in USA. Funny and touching.
Jane Green if you want more chick lit. Haven't seen the film but the book PS I love you by Cecelia Ahern is good.
Or Douglas Kennedy if you want more drama, theres always a character with a deep dark secret.
Or Ive recently finished Leo Tolstoy Anna Kareninia. Im now just showing off 'cos Ive read a 'classis'! Seriously good story tho, not too heavy. I got really attached to the characters.
Or Dodie Smith 'I Capture the Castle' if you want to fall in love with characters. Love that book.
Have you tried Stephen Fry's books? I adore that man (not that he'll be interested in me at all!!). If you like his way with words his books have really strong storylines. And if you read his autobiography first (Moab is my washpot - haven't figured out the meaning of the title) it gives you a whole different emphasis to his fiction.
Ive got into fantasy a fair bit. Not every ones cup of tea, tried to drag my friend to watch Spiderwick Chronicles at weekend, she wasn't having any of it!! Robin Hobb, Trudi Canavan and oh Harry Potter too. Was so not bothered, then my friend bullied me into reading them once all 7 were published. First 2 alright, more content in 3rd, was sobbing my heart out by the 6th one! Will have to get Stephen Frys narration (but MSE way via library!).
Sorry rambled too long. Any good?0 -
DD is tidying her bedroom - a bit late in the day but at least she's doing it!
I'm trying to get the motivation together to sort out the DR - I'd rather just sit here and browse on my nice new PC!:rotfl:NST #10 Steps 7K 2/30 10K 2/12 5 a day 3/30 NSD 0/20

Evening ladies. I've not had a chance to catch up on the thread yet, but hugs to all ((())). I'm not doing any flying today - I'm shattered. As I don't have kids it only takes a few mins to do the spare room, so I'll tackle it tomorrow. I have done my dailies though and all the washing for the week so I can relax! I have a few little jobs to do over the weekend, but it feels great that the house isn't a pigsty and I have to give up half my weekend to tackle it!
Had a really carp day at work today. I discovered I'd messed something up and had to fess up to my boss. He was a bit p*ssed off, but it wasn't completely my fault as loads of people had been involved in the job. I've only been doing the job for 9 months, and I'm quite lowly in my chosen profession. They dropped me in at the deep end straight away, so tbh I'm amazed I've not messed up before as we're under constant pressure to do everything quickly. All my colleagues said they had messed up before, so although I'm stressed, it's not the end of the world. In the work I do, if we make a mistake, some millionaire property magnate doesn't make quite as much money as they want to - no one dies - helps put it in perpective! It's a very stressful job, but also well paid. My plan is to get fully qualified, put in about 5 years hard work, save some money and then go and work somewhere less stressful!
Things got a bit better in the afternoon when a really big client sent an email to thank me for making a big effort for her, and copied in my boss. He then sent an email thanking me too, so I don't think he holds grudges!
Whew! Sorry about the rant - just wanted to get that off my chest. Anyway hope you all have a great weekend!March 2016 - £178,914.59; July 2017 £146,160.38

Sorry to here about your in laws lil me. My ILs are fine, it's when my family come round that I panic! At least we have our own flat now, rather than renting a house from then - i always felt it had to be spotless. (((Hug)))March 2016 - £178,914.59; July 2017 £146,160.38

DD's finished her bedroom and is now in bed.
I've done some to the DR and cleared the hall but just can't seem to get going - may leave it till the morning but if I do that I will have to start on it as soon as I get up so DH and my bro can take the treadmill through to the conservatory.NST #10 Steps 7K 2/30 10K 2/12 5 a day 3/30 NSD 0/20

sharon - i'll post the muffin recipie in tomorrow when my inlaws go to their caravan.
off for an early night...it's been a tiring week xx0 -
Just typed lots of 'LLLL's' as I had a gravy gloob on it.. all clean again now.. bar the tea dribbles.. sort those in a bit.
I can't be faffed with going out tonight... so I am escaping off to my nest and if hubby wants to go out he can go by himself!! You know when you just cannot be bothered with having a wash!!! lol
My house is a sh**pit... I want someone to come do some of it for me.. the 3 little ones have done nothing but scream all day.. one of my rabbits is high on tea and keeps attacking the others.. I am certain he shouldn't be drinking it! I have a post office claim form to get in as they've lost another parcel.. I am NOT happy... it was a gorgeous pair of boden trousers.. most unimpressed here!
All I seem to have done today is look at blooming woodburning stoves.. and electric and gas stoves that look like woodburning ones.. I feel a breakdown coming on.
Hubby is back to work on Monday and I have the whole week at home with the horde.. I don't actually think I can cope this week. All I want to do is sleep.. I spent 2 hours in bed this afternoon!!!
