does anyone else find that when they're not working they forget what day and date it is. i've forgotten my friends OH's birthday was yesterday even though a pressie and card is by the front door and nearly forgot my mum's birthday was today even though i bought presents a few weeks ago. think i'm brain dead.

my friend has just phoned and her OH has fractured his arm in two places. boy, do i feel for him.

michelle - it's so annoying when they don't turn up! xx

Evening all thanks for all the sharing of photos/birth stories etc. I'm glad I had my kids in the order I did or else I'd only have one!

SNAP.. though by the time DD1 (number 2) was 3 months old I'd probably have terminated her!!

DS1 became a total barstool at 17 months.. but it was cute.. until he hit 4 and was even worse.. by which point I had DD1 who screamed 24/7 and some..

Anyway.. I never forgot.. but tomorrow list is up now..

I am BLACK!!! I feel like Al Jolson.. except my hair is crunchy!!

    pics....

    Guess who swept up??...

    dsc05687pa5.jpg

and the 'simple' job of removing the fire surround... became this..

    and after I cleaned up...

Day off today - well, a day off teaching anyway! I was gardening for a friend this morning, despite the awful forecast, and there was only one shower until just as I finished when it tipped it down.

Cleaned the bathroom to Level 3, then treated myself to a spell in the greenhouse, sowing some more seeds, only a few of which I'll keep, the rest for a seedling swap.

Hugs to those who need one, and will catch up again tomorrow after school!

hex - did you get any egg ideas ? What about frittata ? We have that quite often and its very healthy (providing you don't use any/much cheese)!
chop up some veg eg leek, courgette, mushroom, pepper, sweetcorn, whatever. Fry off in a pan.
Make up scrambled egg mix then pour into frying pan over the veg mix.
Let is cook til its almost set on top then bung it inder the grill to allow top to cook and go brown. DH has his half with cheese grated in but I don't put cheese in my half.
We use about 8 eggs between us for the two of us.
We have it with salad and potato wedges - scrummy.

On the weekends we have cooked breakfasts - I have scrambled egg, grilled tomato, dry-fried mushrooms and low fat baked beans, DH has hash browns and toast with his.

Or you could use the whites for meringue - serve with greek yoghurt instead of the cream and its not too bad calorie-wise - and use the yolks for a glaze for the top of a potato-y dish or you could put some extra yols in the scrambled egg mix above.

g&b - so weird you mention beetroot and apple - at Christmas (only a Christmas in fact!) my Mum ALWAYS makes apple, celery and beetroot salad - yumptious!Well I say she makes it, from about 8 years of age this was always my job on Christmas Eve. Beetroot just reminds of Christmas :) (But it had to be from a jar in vinegar :p )
