  • Hi, in again (since we are finally getting somewhere  )

Little people are all having a sleepover (well they are sharing a room for the night and watching a dvd!) So I guess I should print off the list and get on with it.

Would be nice if the garage of doom could be somewhere near sorted tomorrow and since there isn't a single shelf up yet... DH spoke to dad and has found a way to put them up (funnily enough a few hours earlier I had suggested the same way of doing it  ) It will mean another trip to B&Q though - wonder if I should send him with the kids? :rotfl:

Although I have 2 clutter removing shelves up in the kitchen now :j

Loads of lambs being born now, give it a couple of weeks and their bleating will be making me all broody :o lol farmer has even been taking them back in at night (because of the snow!) So I guess spring is here

Contratulations to Johanne - btw your midwife is there to check on you and your lo - she really won't care about the housework ;)

HollyH - I don't know what to say (hugs)

ok less bleathering - off to finish the kitchen

Pigpen I love the kiddies list, so can we keep it going (or atleast for the April holidays) Had a long discusion with DS1 about having a nice clean house (refuse to say tidy, it's never tidy with kids) and he said he likes having a clean house and wants to help keep it clean.

Started the kitchen earlier, well, cleaned the oven, scrubbed the sink and wiped the window. :rotfl:

Re: jobs. I started working as a waitress when I was 12 in the place my Mum worked. They called me in one Saturday as they were stowed out and 2 of the 'young ones' (Weekend workers) didn't turn up.

First year I cleared tables, did dishes, ran to the shop, made drinks etc on a Sunday. At 13 I was waitressing fully every Sunday (11am-4pm) by 14 I was working 4 sundays and 3 saturdays a month (sun 11-4 sat 12-5) and by 15 I was every sunday and saturday 9am-4pm (none of the other young ones wanted it as they would be hungover). Plus I was working all school holidays.

It was not quite legal the hours (or £2 per hour pay) BUT not only was I totally RICH, but when I went to get my first job I was hired on the spot because of the experience I allready had of working.

When my kids are old enough they will be encouraged (thrown out) to find jobs at weekends and holidays. Although I won't make them work as much a I did, nor for the pittance. But my parents were poor so if I wanted anything I had to buy it myeslf. :rotfl:

I'll be in this week too. Ta for the welcome back :D you lovely lot. Not making any promises other than I'll do my best. I couldn't cope with a fortnight of work like I've just had, taken me until now to feel vaguely relaxed and I'm back in on tuesday.I've been flying 'embb style' on a weekend and adding to the exhaustion. Kaz, good idea to get ahead if you know you're going to be doing lots of weekend working.
Lil_me, yes, that's my fast growing nephew in my avatar - am totally in love with him!
Was it this thread or last weeks about the 'cut off' point for easter eggs? anyhow, my aunt still gets me one every year and I'm over 40. Maybe she'll stop when I reach 50 but I hope not..

Evening all :) Just been reading GR's thread, made me laugh (and made me avoid the paperwork mountain for another hour) ....

Right, let's see where we're at, glad kitchen is tomorrow, as I've just done a chunk of it :)

    Killer Kitchen - Monday
    Level One
    [STRIKE]Clear and wipe work surfaces[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Up to 5 ebay items listed![/STRIKE] - Won't be eBaying
    Level Two
[STRIKE]Sweep and[/STRIKE] Mop the floor (may let DD mop, she likes to mop :) She's 4 .. water is going to go everywhere!!!
[STRIKE]Wipe the cupboards, appliances and all those manky corners!![/STRIKE]
    Level Three
[STRIKE]Defrost the freezer if needed!![/STRIKE] - Not needed currently
[STRIKE]Wipe over all those small appliances.. don't forget the inside of the microwave![/STRIKE]
Wipe out the gicky parts of the fridge and have a quick check for what needs restocking.. I have locusts off school!! - Damned fine idea.
    Extras
    • [STRIKE]Clean oven/hob if you must.. *rolls eyes*[/STRIKE]
    • HHI .. Did all ironing yesterday, but there'll be more tomorrow no doubt
    • Clean windows and sills
    • [STRIKE]treat the pets for fleas!!! This is prime time for them to be developing an infestation.. the last thing you need in your house! .. left on in case you were lazy like me and missed this![/STRIKE] - No pets
    • Go play a game with the children who have helped you today!! - Will do
    Childrens list.
    1. Clear and wipe the table - DD always helps (and she lays table too)
    2. Load the dishwasher (DW) if you have one (I'd rather she didn't, tendency to break stuff ... but she does the cutlery unloading and putting away.
    3. Can you fill the washing machine (WM) with things that are all the same colour and switch it on?? This is a very important thing to learn.. many big clever daddies struggle with this job.. even our daddy.. so if you can do this.. you are cleverer than him! (She knows to sort the washing into darks / whites
    4. [STRIKE]If you are a bigger little person could you wipe over the fronts of the kitchen cupboards and fridge/freezer/washing machine.. sometimes you need to check the insides too as they get a bit sticky..[/STRIKE] - I did this this evening.
    Also:
    • I cleaned the filters on the WM, scrubbed the seals and put it on a 95deg wash with soda crystals and bleach
    • I cleaned the TD filters
    • I've cleaned my sink and bleached the washing up bowl
    • Grill pan is cleaned (oh ok, had to do it as we had v.sticky chicken drumsticks for tea)
    Other to do's for tomorrow/week:
    • Plant up our (DD and I's) tomato seedlings. That should cause a whole load of mess and be thoroughly enjoyable with DD !
    • Tackle the paperwork mountain
    • Order SeaWorld tickets
    • Take zip out of skirt and work out how to insert it (any good websites?)
    • Do facing on skirt (again, once I've worked out how to do it!)
    • Overlock and hem skirt
    • Itinerary for hols
    • Gym tomorrow if cold has abated somewhat
    • Find recipe for potato bread (not saying I'm going to get around to making it ... just finding the recipe ought to do, LOL)
    • Mend DD's skirt
    • Mend DD's sock (or cunningly bin it when she's not looking, along with the other one of the pair!) Thankfully she thinks that wearing mixed up socks is a fashion statement!
    • Mend DD's PJ bottoms that she caught on a radiator (or use it as an excuse to practice using my overlocker on jersey material, and turn them into PJ shorts ....... )
For now, wine and Willy Wonky's chocolate is calling
