(Warning - a bit long...)
Lovely sunshine here, although I haven't been out. I'm hoping that it isn't so cold that I can't do something outside. I may prepare the trench for the hedge. I'll be taking DD downtown later, to buy a few more things on her list. I've been waiting for a half price sunglasses offer from Boots - there's usually one about this time. I may wander over to the Boots thread and seek expert advice.
It's a Bank Holiday - do I really have to clean the kitchen?? I may have to seek refuge on 'The Other Thread.';)
My children break up in two weeks time, for a fortnight. DD is off on her 'Big Trip'- as they call it in school - to India. This is the big trip that DS1 went on to China two years ago and fell ill. So, DD is a teeny bit nervous, and so am I. It doesn't matter that I rationally know she'll be absolutely fine, every time I think about it, my tummy flips over... DS1 will (should) be revising for his exams. So, that leaves me with DS2 who is by far the most helpful of the three anyway, so good chance that I'll get lots done! They did all do all the washing up after the major strop I threw on Saturday.
hollyh - hugs to you and your OH. Will be in my thoughts today.
Pink Fairy - Welcome back! I was just thinking the other day that I hadn't seen you around for a little while. Likewise to Solwaykid.
Welkcome to :hello: sue-y, lucasmum, catlover1.
We're not scary over here!! I'm here because I really don't like doing housework, and being on this thread means I'm organised enough now to do the jobs in the least amount of time. Remember that it didn't take just one day to get the house in whatever state it is, and you won't get it perfect in that time - but it will improve every week. I spent all of last year doing a bit every week in my bedroom, and got it clear enough to redecorate in the New Year! (The wardrobe still isn't finished, and there's a pile of stuff from the room behind the sofa, but hey, I'm making progress!!)
johanne - this sounds like a very good time to call in any favours and take up any offers of help from anyone. If there is one small thing I would recommend, make some dishes that can be stashed in the freezer,in one or two portion sizes, and ideally make ones that can be eaten with one hand. (Spaghetti is not easy to eat without dropping it all over the baby on your lap..) A large bag of mini mars bars for when you are literally starving in the middle of the night is great! Make sure that you have plenty of sanitary towels stashed away, also the first size of nappies. Baby will probably be fine with the first size of baby suits and babygrows, and you'll need quite a few and scratch mitts are helpful. Make a list of important numbers and stick it by the phone (eg labour ward, NCT helpline, pizza delivery...) Don't worry about the nursery, my babies were all in our room until they were about two, as I couldn't be bothered to walk around in the night for feeding/changing. A very low watt bulb in a bedside lamp is very useful. A moses basket or carry cot is okay to start with. You don't need to buy special fitted cot sheets - use a pillow case, it's much easier. I also strongly recommend not getting dressed for the first couple of weeks. If you are in night clothes, even in the sittingroom, then people will do things for you; otherwise, you'll find yourself making endless cups of tea etc. And if anyone offers help of any kind - accept immediately!
dusty - have you tried www.chilternseeds.co.uk ?It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be0 -

I'm waiting for a sunglass offer too Serena - please give me a heads up if you here of one.
Thanks for the link, I hope to look at the catalogue later so will do a comparision on there too.The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Morning everyone, slept well last night but no better this morning.
Just seen a car going up the lane and wondering who would be up this early then looked at the clock and realised it ain't that early oppps, as long as they don't come to the window cause i've a small country glowing on my chin and hair is scary looking and it's pj day again.
As for flying i'll do what i can.Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough. And things go wrong no matter what I do.Now and then it seems that life is just too much. But you've got the love I need to see me through.:j :j0 -
Back again and I can't find the mouse for the laptop and don't know how to cut and paste without it so strikey strike strike..worktops, cupboard fronts, floor, fridge, grill and hob all done. I've a feeling I've just done the children's list but hey, I've been away for a while.
Made a huge ginger cake that I'll do some orange icing on later before I have to go out. The kitchen smells lovely too.
Welcome to folks just starting this week and I'm very impressed Juliejim, that must've been some ironing mountain!
Dusty, I had one of those bodyclock alarms for Christmas and I'm waking up before it starts glowing at the moment. It's nice not to be jolted by an alarm, mid-dream cycle and be fuzzy headed til noon though.
I think since the sun's still shining I'm going to wash the car, make hay while the iron's hot and all that..One debt v 100 days Part 14 £400/£400

Good morning all.
Big welcome to all newbies!
Johanne - what awful luck. Big hugs to all. I'm afraid the baby will come when it's ready tho!
Vanilla - hugs to you too. Zinc and echinacea lessen the strength and duration of a cold/flu. Wheat bags are good for the aches and pains. MSE message to all - don't pay for Nurofen - buy own brand ibuprofen, and look at contents of Beechams and do your own! They're a total waste of money (and yes, I trained in pharmacy). You can combine pain relief with vitamin C and honey etc and save loads of money. Superdrugs own inhalant oil is better value than Olbas - with exactly the same in gredients. Best non-chemical cough medicine is Allen's Pine and Honey Balsam too!
JillD, Serena - I'm glad I've been missed!
