Does it ever make you feel cheap

Hi all
Happy easter!
i had an encounter in asda yesterday that made me feel really cheap and downrigt horrible.
i was getting some easter eggs and as they were going through the till, the lady serving me said "i'm sure that last one has been reduced to half price, did you notice what it said on the shelf?" to which i said i didn't notice"
she then called someone over to check and this other person went off to the aisle with the eggs on.
meanwhile a gentleman had queued up behind me and was making noises to another person behind me.
after a minute the man turned to me and tried to shove £2.50 in my face and said "hear take this your obviously desperate and i'm in a hurry" (it was all said in an angry manner), at which point i welled up and asked the cashier to quickly put it through as it was so i could go, i then left the shop crying my eyes out. the man only had 3 things on the conveyer belt and there were plenty of tills. i felt humiliated and like something on the bottom of his shoe.
a year or so ago, i would have stood up to him, but i think because it was money related and i do need every penny, he hit a nerve.
sorry probably not right for the board, i think i just needed to get it of my chest as it has really bothered me since

what an absolute t1t.
Sorry someone has reduced you to tears. I can't believe this persons attitude.
Maybe for future reference if you do meet any clowns like this again that try shoving money in your face......
Take the money, say thank you, and wait for the price to be clarified anyway:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
This way you get it free and they may think about being such tos sers in future.
Hope this has cheered you up.

Bless you. What an a hole. I was in Asda the other day and had a query with coupons. Eventually the cashier took them all after checking with her supervisor then checking all the coupons. I t took an age but knocked £9.40 off my shop and i need the money. The woman behind me was giving me a right face...don't let it bother you what he said he's probably spending Easter alone a miserable, lonely man!0

:grouphug: awww - dodgy hugs to you. no, it never makes me feel that way and why should you feel guilty about having a price checked? People like that aren't worth bothering about:mad: . I've been in supermarkets though and seen harrassed young mums getting tutted at as they try to pacify a screaming baby and pack their shopping at the same time - some people just have no idea.Mortgage OP 2025 £7050/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

Don't feel too down the sad gobsh*te was probably on his way to moan at someone else, it's the only way these people get their kicks. At least you have the courage to know you have money troubles, this saddo has probably watched too many episodes of Harr Enfield's Old Gits.

I would have told him, I like to pay the correct price, NO more, NO less.
I would have told him what a rude uncouth man he was & to have some manners & wait his turn.0 -

I agree with InThe BrownStuff however I would have also asked the cashier to get me another egg and pay for it with this guy's cash gift. This would have really got him going. For good measure you should have kneed him in the nuts.0
