Also if you stay with BT for Line rental you can have free voicemail 1571,and as long as you put a couple of calls over Bt using the 1280 override facility Eg your 0845/0870 calls you can benefit from free CLI (CALLER DISPLAY) which other providers charge for.
    PF.

1571 is a nasty feature. If I have to pay for calls and the person has that feature I just don't call them, as why should I pay to find they are engaged or no answer, when they forget for hours to check if they have a message. I don't know one person who regularly checks.

A question for this dunce..gawd!!

How do i programme the Dialler? it has instructions but i'm confused..

Do i dial My phone number then the 18866 code? so for example if my number was..1234567 i dial...123456718866 is that right?
  • Kim, am I right in assuming you bought the V2 dialler?? If so, this dialler is already programmed with 18866, so you shouldn't need to be programming it. It's only capable of using one carrier. So, I'm then assuming you plug it in to your BT socket, and programme in, via your telephone handset. I'm looking at my instructions and it's basically saying:
ie if your local code is Manchester(you live in manchester)

Lift handset, the led on the dialler will come on. Dial ***0161*4. replace handset. This has told your dialler your local area code.

To programme your dialler to route all local calls:

Lift handset, led on the dialler will come on (dimly). Dial *#**18866*1. Replace handset.

To programme dialler for national calls

Lift handset, the led on the dialler will come on (dimly). Dial *#**18866*2. Replace the handset.

    To programme for International calls

Lift the handset, the led on the dialler will come on (dimly). Dial *#**18866*3. Replace handset.

    To programme for mobile calls:

Lift handset , the led on the dialler will come on ( dimly). Dial *#**18866*4. Replace the handset.

Now you should be getting all your calls routed to 18866. However, you need to make sure you have registered with 18866. To do that you need to visit the 18866 website https://www.18866.com

Once your dialler is sorted, all you need to do is dial a number. ie if you are telephoning a freind who lives in the same town as you, all you need to do is dial her number, you only need to dial area codes if telephone outside your town. You don't need to diall 18866 cause the dialler is doing that part for you.

Hope that sorts it out, if not contact orchid. :D
