doesnt anyone make soup with brothmix any more? this makes the most filling warm belly soup ever, and is good for you with all the pulses and stuff. carrot , turnip, potatoe and a few stock cubes and your eating for a few days. All soup is trial and error the more you try the less errors you make:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o

This is my soup recipe - doesn't use any whisking / blending though
Winter Veg Soup
2 Onions
3 Carrots
5 Parsnips
4 Sticks Celery
1 Butternut OR 2 Sweet Potatoes
2 litres veg stock (yes its cheating, I know)
2 tins chopped tomatoes
Peel and slice the carrots, parsnips and celery, dice the onion and cube the butternut/sweet potato. Size of slices/cubes depends on your preference, but I like chunky soup.
Put a small amount of oil into the largest pot you have - just enough to cover the bottom, and place over medium heat.
Add onions once the oil is hot, and cook till sweet and transparrent.
Add celery, and cook for about 2-3 minutes, then add other veg.
Cook for about 10 minutes, then add stock, 500ml at a time, stirring regularly.
Add the tomatoes, and about 1 tin-ful of water (depends on the size of the pot mostly)
Bring to the boil, then reduce heat to very low and simmer for about an hour and a half.
Stir regularly (about every 5-10 mins) to ensure no burning / sticking
Season to taste (usually the stock has enough seasoning to suit me), and serve.
Suitable for freezing (once cooled down), and keeps well. Usually needs about a cup of water added when warming up if not served immediately, as the soup tends to thicken a bit and become too rich.
This usually lasts us a long time - we had 7 people over the other day, and the leftovers are enough for another 3 or more meals.0 -

Hope this doesn't sound a daft questions BUT i ahve juts made a carrot soup and added in a jar of red peppadews - which i thought would add a little sweetness. The result is a nice soup but with a BIG KICK!!
Can anyone suggest something which i could add to the soup to mellow it out a little?
Thanks!
