Hi sorry this is slightly off topic, but I just made my first batch off soup, made a bit too much, and wondering how exactly do i freeze soup, i can't really find anything to put it in? also can you reheat it straight from frozen or have to wait till its defrosted?

thanks for all your recipes, i just chucked some tomatos, carrots, potaotes and onion in a pan and blended, tasted lovely tho!!
  • I tend to wait until the soup is cool and pour it into freezer bags, I then rest the freezer bags in a plastic takeaway box, when the contents have frozen I remove it from the box....

Your soup will then be frozen in neat blocks perfect for stacking in the freezer. I always take mine out and let it defrost, not sure what others do.

  • I have it on good authority that Mrbadexample's mushroom soup was yummy!

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Hope this doesn't sound a daft questions BUT i ahve juts made a carrot soup and added in a jar of red peppadews - which i thought would add a little sweetness. The result is a nice soup but with a BIG KICK!!

Can anyone suggest something which i could add to the soup to mellow it out a little?

    Thanks!

Make another batch of carrot soup, split in two and then add half of your original soup into each batch to halve the kick! You can then freeze if you need to.

I think I heard adding some potatoes will do that.

  • We eat low fat home made soup all the time. Its cheap, filling and GOOD for you.

When I run out of ideas or haven't time for a lot of veg chopping I sling a couple of chopped onions, some garlic, a couple of tins of chopped toms, about 4-6oz of red lentils and a good slug of curry powder or paste in about two pints of water with a couple of stock cubes.

Bring to boil and then simmer for about an hour. Blitz with a blender and bobs your uncle.
  • I'll get a full recipe list for the 4 soups asked for on Wednesday night or Thursday morning, Ive only jus got home from work and am shattered, also thurs is my night day off. Hope you can wait til then ;)
