All my home-made soups freeze OK. The only minor complication is that those where you add milk or cheese ought to have this added on reheating. If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

I make loads of soup using my slow cooker (which currently has pumpkin soup in it), and they all freeze really well. I can't imagine that there is a soup that can't be frozen. I usually blend mine before portioning and freezing, then thaw it before reheating and serving, adding water if it is too thick. I haven't poisoned anyone - yet!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Hmmm two of our favourite soups are onion soup & mushroom soup but I'm not sure if they'll freeze well? I'd love it if they do as they're so cheap & easy0

I love making soup and never had any problems, apart from with a crispy bacon and cheese soup (amazingly lovely btw!) anyhow now I think of it, its common sense but once frozen and defrosted the bacon was no longer crispy and made the soup awful. I would advise if making it again like I have several times to add the bacon once you've re-heated the soup

I've frozen onion soup without problem - it does look a little funky when defrosting but is okay when reheated!0

I always end up with loads of leftover tomatoes and salad bags as I'm
The only one who eats it in our house. I've heard you can make soup with the salad leaves so just wondered if anyone had any simple recipes. I'm not a very good cook!0 -
I bet it's rank..... and you'd make it once and wish you hadn't.
Best advice I'd give, ignoring your actual question, would be:
• Grow a couple of lettuces and pick individual leaves as you need them. Stop buying the bags.
• Roast the tomatoes and lob them into a freezer as the base of any stews/pizza bases or toppings. And/or, make chutney, ketchup, tomato sauce, or something with them.
I live alone. I never buy bags of salad as I know I won't use it. I buy tomatoes and commit to using them all up somehow - they do last 3-4 weeks so can always be used up if I remember they exist.... and the last chance saloon is to lob them into a dish with some chopped onions and a bit of oil/dried herbs and roast them down as a sidedish to get rid.0 -
You could try this one:

This is also a useful site for easy, low cost recipes.
Oops welshbookworm posted the recipe before I posted the link.
However, the link gives you access to a lot more info. For myself I am an optimist - there does not seem to be much use being anything else.

Hi,
used to have a girlfriend who made cream of lettuce soup, I enjoyed it, haven't seen her for years, be a good excuse to contact her again, if you want the recipe.0 -
I've made lettuce soup before & it wasn't "rank" - it was actually quite delicious
I cant give you a recipe as it was one of those "open the fridge & chuck anything that looks as though it needs using up" into a pan & turn into soup. It was mostly lettuce, with a bit of onion & not much else.0
