Thank you for resurecting this thread!!
I confess...
This week for dinner we've eaten such goodness as Chicken Tonight and Fried Egg sandwhiches.
The fruitbowl contains 2 lemons and a pencil (purely as I emptied a beermat, a bottle of contact lens solution, a horse brass and the Sat Nav from it earlier)
All that's in our fridge is half a lettuce, 2 bulbs of garlic, condiments, 2 out of date yoghurts and a big smear of orange stuff accross the bottom - might be Mrs Balls chutney? Might not
I've not cleaned the bathroom in a week... but not vacuumned the bedroom in 2.
There's been a soggy wet towel that fell in the bath inside the washing machine since Monday and it now stinks.. not done any washing this week at all and laundry basket has flowed over.
OH got a Tassimo coffee machine for Christmas from his parents - he loves gadgets - and i've not made proper coffee since.
And I'm fannying around on here, rather than doing any of it!!!0 -
OMG I love this thread. It makes me realise that not everyone is a superwoman with housework :j :j :j :j My bedroom has been described as a pigsty bu OM. I explained that it isn't really, it is just that clothes haven't found their proper homes yet:rotfl:0

I feel like I've finally found my 'people'
I haven't ironed anything for months - and there are clothes in my ironing basket I'd forgotton I owned...
When 'tidying' the kitchen last week I opened a cake tin to discover a whole new eco-system  No idea what it was originally so slammed the tin lid down (before it could escape) and threw the tin away...

Thank goodness I discovered this thread! I was feeling soooooo inadequate!! My confession is that I dropped from full time work to 4 days a week from last July. To justify this to DH, I prepared a huge list of all the things that I never have time to do but would now be able to do on my extra day..... :rotfl: To give just a few examples:
- prepare food plans for the week ahead comprising of delicious and nutritional meals - no more take-aways and ready meals.... :rotfl:
- get all of the household chores (washing, ironing, cleaning, food shopping, etc) out of the way before the week-end so we can spend some quality time together as a family :rotfl:
- go to the gym for a workout/class/swim :rotfl:
- de-clutter all those drawers/cupboards/shelves that haven't been investigated in the 10 years that we have been in the house...:rotfl:
- clean all the places that we never have time for (windows/behind and under sofas and beds/etc etc) :rotfl:
- carefully monitor food cupbards and freezer contents to ensure good use of contents and no wastage (finally removing some of the tins/jars/packets that we brought with us when we moved into the house 10 years ago...)
I could go on (there is loads more, believe me...) but it is depressing me. Needless to say, none of the above has happened - there is not ONE week when I have managed any of these. Now I have discovered the forums there is even less hope... perhaps if I stick to the OS forum some of it will rub off on me and I will become a changed person...0 -
My house looks like a bomb site...
I have taken a day off from work to sort everything...
Well, it will be sorted if I move my a*** out of bed and out of MSE forums :rolleyes:0 -
This is a great thread, I dont feel half as guilty now:rotfl:
I got up this morning and realised that some carrots and parsnips had been at the bottom of the fridge, probably for a couple of weeks. They had shoots coming out of them and the carrots had hair-like things sprouting through the skin. Ewww! So in the bin they went - should have done a soup with them really before they went bad.
Havent done any washing for a few days and I know this doesn't sound a lot but when DH is a "wear it once then wash" person, the washing builds up very quickly
Havent hoovered the living room/bedroom for a couple of weeks and not cleaned the bathroom for probably the same amout of time
Not that these things SHOULD be left to me as I work full-time and do a part-time uni course so DH needs to be helping out a bit more - time to do some nagging...erm sorry, "encouraging"0 -
we can't use the dining table because its covered in freebies and packaging from freebies and wins
the word "pile" just doesn't begin to describe the ironing that needs to be done
there is always washing up to be done and the pots always 'drip dry'
food is never completely put away in the cupboards
the coffee table takes the overflow from the dining table
i need to vacuum
our house isn't just lived in its trampled upon
i can't get another thing in the fridge
i am so relieved its not just me that has a house like this :rotfl:Wins: 2008: £606.10 2009: £806.24 2010: £713.47 2011: 328.320 -
I've just been to the freezer to see what useful things I can find to use up before I go food shopping. I found 2 Magnums and have just "used" them up....0
