Well at least I actually cleaned up in the kitchen today. I threw away a lot of paper today too.
I have 5 black bin liners in our kitchen, 4 carrier bags of clothes in my hallway and umpteen bags of rubble scattered around.
I will go to the tip tomorrow honest!

DH has been slogging his way through the washing for the last fortnight as I can't be bothered. Trouble is we've got no further with the decorating in the front room because I'm getting nothing done during the day.
We've just had 4 days off and wasted it shopping drinking vegging and eating. Now we feel bad about it because we've no time again until May so the house is going to stay like a !!!!!! pit until then. GRRRRRR!

i too have cream carpets throughout and visitors often feel they should remove their footwear - i try to discourage this unless shoes are covered in mud!! the thing i hate is the little balls of cotten fluff off peoples socks stick to the carpet and dont go up the hover and eventually i have to go round the room picking individual bits up!!
i did joke about getting a range of shoes in different sizes and a shoe rack and getting people to swap for indoor shoes like you do at the bowling alley - but this really was a joke:rotfl:

Oh them fluff bits wind me up soooooo much. In the 'Old Style Things Only You Do' type thread is my confession to cleaning carpets with a lint roller mainly for that reason, that and dog fluff :o Anyway, just bought a rubber broom to see if that does the job any better, yet to try it when it's really bad but seems to work well on dog fluff. See that's another 2 reasons for not taking shoes off, they get fluff on my carpet and dog hairs on their socks :rotfl:
One day I might be more organised...........

I suppose I ought to join in seeing as I've been reading this thread since GR started it!

I can't remember the last time I dusted.
I haven't hoovered the LR for a week and the rest of the house longer.
I can't see the floor in my DR or the table.
Out of 3 worktops in my kitchen, I can only use one as the other 2 are covered in stuff.
    My bathroom needs cleaning.

On the plus side, until Monday I had 2 baskets side by side in front of the freezer. These were full of ironing which reached the top of the freezer. After 8 hours  of ironing these are now empty!

I really ought to go and wash yesterday's dishes now.

Well I finally found the kitchen table and the fruit bowl, which had a shrivelled lemon and possibly what was another lemon - although it was green and furry!! You can tell how much stuff I took out of the kitchen because it now echos when you talk:D and I haven't done the kitchen tops yet.

Last night I cooked a casserole using a cook in sauce and to accompany it, I bought Delia's favourite frozen mash.

Oh and a fruit bowl with big gaps.....that's what I have and it now contains 2 dog collars, some instruction booklets and a box that had a mobile phone in it but still has all the paperwork in it. Apples are in the fridge.

Sillyvixen - I had a friend who lost her car in an Asda superstore carpark. It was obviously a regular occurence so the staff were very good and helped her look for it. After about 30 minutes of looking with 3 staff from the shop, she remembered that she'd parked her car at B&Q next door:o

Oh and should have added that the reason I've been so active is it's the only way to keep warm as we've run out of heating oil and they can't deliver until next week. I'm actually looking forward to back to work:eek:

  • This is a great thread ,spent about 2 hours yesterday having a read and a giggle.

I've got cfs so my house lurches between being semi-presentable and being a downright pit depending on how I'm feeling. It's bordering on the pit at the moment!

I think my biggest confession has to be the os challenges I've started and not finished. I started the storecupboard challenge several years ago - it's an ongoing challenge, all i can say is my cupboards are not any fuller but they don't look any emptier either. My freezer was to be emptied and given a good clean in the run up to christmas (before last!) -still not done!

More recently i joined in Ceridwns simplyfying thread and got as far as producing a list of all the things in my life I could easily get rid of -then backed off in shame at my complete failure to actually do anything on the list.

I also frequently forget washing in the machine, don't change the beds because I've got too much other washing to do and leave my washing out on the line to get soaked in the rain - I then leave it to dry again before bringing it in and putting it away without giving it another wash (something my mum says is disgusting).
