 I hate people who take their shoes off, we have cream carpets in the hall etc, nothing a carpet cleaner doesn't solve and people think they should take their shoes off, yak, they get told to put them back on, I hate the sight of feet and they smell. I've put a carpet runner down over the carpet to discourage people from exposing their feet.

i too have cream carpets throughout and visitors often feel they should remove their footwear - i try to discourage this unless shoes are covered in mud!! the thing i hate is the little balls of cotten fluff off peoples socks stick to the carpet and dont go up the hover and eventually i have to go round the room picking individual bits up!!
i did joke about getting a range of shoes in different sizes and a shoe rack and getting people to swap for indoor shoes like you do at the bowling alley - but this really was a joke:rotfl:

Howdy peeps. Im loving this thread.

Ive been sat on the computer since 7am this morning, listenng to various thngs on YouTube and perusing through this thread making my 'oh yeah i must do that too' list.

    Bring on the shame!
    • my bedding hasnt been changed in about 2 weeks now - both me and bf shower/bath before bed so mingingness though.
    • There is currently 3 loads of washign to be done in bedroom (one towels, one underwear, one tshirts) another load in sons room adn clothes behind bathroom door.
    • Havent cleaned the hallway where dog sleeps etc in abotu a week and its buzzing
    • Oven - cleaned? NEVER.
    • Wasing Machine - see above
    • reminds me i must pull out my cooker - lost a knife down there about a month ago and i still havent retrieved it yet!
    • Ive washingin a basket to be dried thats been there about 3 days so probably smells mouldy that needs rewashing
    • Have items hung on coat hangers hanging from curtian rails in living room - they've been there oh what near on 4 days now.
    • Fruit bowl - funny enough contains fruit! - but i did only buy it yesterday
    • Oven top has water form the potatos overboiling since sunday still on it
    • Dishes in the sink - the measuring juga dn whisk have been there for about 5 days now cos i decided the bright way to make semolina was in a jug and then forgot to soak it!
    • Have not swept in about 2 weeks
    • Have not mopped in abotu a week
    • Have NEVER polished - i dont have alot of polishable things - bar the TV
    • Have not hoovered in nearly 5 months - only got carpet in bedrooms and they are no shoes.no food zones.
    • Spare room - im ashamed to even open the door - mortified when i lost the gas man the other day - might go and throw a sandwich in there later just so hes kept fed - never saw him leave, could still be in there for all i know.
    • my 3 year old wont go in the kitchen for fear of the mountian of ironing he has to manouevre past ont eh way that might collapse on him.
    • Bins need taking out - have a bin full and another black bag thats getting fuller by the minute
    • If i can get my draws in the kitchen open i might sort out my paperwork at some point this week. Same with the carp cupboard as its known now.
Oh god - just remembered i have my mother coming tomorrow too - shes one of these whos house is pristine and she was a cleaner for 10 years plus easily. If you put a cup down in her house, god damn you there had better be a coaster under it! (she says as she notices the big ring stain on the computer desk form her coffee  )

Think i need to make that list after all
    Time to find me again

I know I've quoted this before BUT this thread does call to mind Joan Rivers on housework - ' You get up, make the bed, do the dishes and 6 months later you have to do it all again' :D

How rude is that! Need friends like that like a hole in the head....Did you say anything?!!

No ... I've known her a long time and am used to her comments ... besides her house is show house (its all white from the sofa to the carpets) clean and spotless everything looks like new. Her dog gets its paws cleaned before its allowed in the house and has a lyrca all in one thing to keep it clean from head to toe when it goes out.

I sort of take it with a pinch of salt most of the time ... but as I had spent 2 solid days cleaning this time I did have to count to 10 before responding:rotfl:

I'm more accustomed to the dog walking out of the bedroom with a pair of my knickers on it's head :rotfl:

You lot will never learn - get one of those metal wire fruit basket which only holds big things in! Nothing goes in ours except fruit as everything else falls out the bottom :rotfl:
