NatWest text message? scam?

I'm not sure you can say that they aren't following OFT guidelines when you don't know the purpose of their text/calls. You refer to 'collection guidelines' whereas the OP says nothing is owing, so those guidelines wouldn't apply.
I still say OP needs to ring the number in case s/he learns something important. If it's a sales call, s/he can just hang up.0 -
I phoned the bank twice i spoke to my local branch and they checked my account details and everything and there was nothing amiss i am in credit as usual
but then i got another missed call so i phoned the lendings department on the advice of the telephone banking service and i spoke to a gentleman who also assured me that my accounts fine no problems and he told me that the bank is on high alert because of this scam and he told me that the collections centre is 08453039012 and gave me an address to send the web link to the fake site to, I checked the 12 number and sure enough it is RBS collections centre. I also got a missed call from the 08453039015 on sunday Easter sunday and surely genuine banks are closed over BANK holiday weekends?
So as far as i'm concerned its a scam and til i get something in writing that my branch confirms i need to act on i'm gonna ignore it. I have no credit cards, loans or a mortgage i'm not even in my overdraft so i'm not worried about it anymore.
i just wish i didn't keep missing the calls i'm dying to give them some grief:rotfl:0 -
No, the OP referred to missing three calls from 9015.
But, in any event, the OP has it from the horse's mouth (no offence, Natweststaffmember!) that the number's genuine, as well as from several Googlers, and you really ought to ring in case you are incurring costs by delaying.
Hi just notice this the missed calls were from 9015 but in the text it said to phone 9014 and quote a reference0 -

The collections Dept has several similar numbers starting 0845 303 9012/9013 etc, we have these so when the operators phone rings, they can tel if its a response to a text, call from a branch etc.
This Dept is open every day except xmas day and boxing day. There is 2 centres, 1 in Birmingham and 1 in Nottingham.
Your account will go under their control if you:
A - Go overdrawn
B - Have an unpaid item.
C - Abusing your account etc.
Also when your account is under their control the branch cannot help you and will refer your to that Dept. Your risk band with the bank will go to either 9 or 10, which is not good. They do change on a monthly basis depending on the conduct of your account.
Hope this helps.I work in a NatWest branch, any information I provide should be taken as general. See you local branch for advice, but any questions feel free to ask me.0 -

I have done none of these short of showing you my bank statments i can only assure you i am 100percent solvent they have no reason at all to be after me.
Have you had a look at the link? to you as a staff member does it look genuine?0 -
i have looked at the link and after reading the 'legal' link at the bottom, some of the information it speaks about would indicate to me its legit, you would really need to know your stuff to make up a site like that.
I would not worry about it, although ive not seen that site before, and if your uncertain your best reporting it to be safe.
You could check with your branch if it is in there control or not or simply ring the above numbers maybe.I work in a NatWest branch, any information I provide should be taken as general. See you local branch for advice, but any questions feel free to ask me.0 -

I have phoned and they have confirmed it is a scam! and as for your comment about if your uncertain its best reporting it to be safe i beg to differ when it comes to money if your uncertain be very cautious.
There are many things about that site that make me suspicious such as the natwest link at the top doesn't link back to natwest0 -
The site is a part of the real Natwest site.Do Something Amazing - Give Blood0

where i've not been able to find it, how do i get to it off the main site0

Dormant account with overdraft facility not used for a while but within overdraft facility?
I am sure there is a logical answer but as I have said and yes I have seen yahoo answers which says its a scam which is rubbish. It's legit and collections do work weekends and bank holidays. Call collections or ask to be put through to them tomorrow and state you have received a text message which purports to be from them. I would suggest you go through central telephony or the number the bank have given you.
When you find out it is legitimate or is an error on the banks part then tell me or better still PM me cos I will not be back on this thread. I merely WORK for the BANK. Speak to em tomorrow.0
