As to how they get paid - sorry for this lol (and I do mean sorry - ok)- I just have this picture in my mind of an 83 year old woman in the backwoods of the US- but with internet access - who knows of sites which pay say 10x what she pays us - and all she does in the morning is cut and paste what we submit - and then takes her dogs for a walk in the afternoon - and down to the local bar in the evening.
Now - where do I find that dark room I should lie down in?

i don't quite get all this antagonism towards the fact that they're making money out of us. sure they are, but everyone works dead-end jobs so some fat-cat makes oodles of money and ekes the life and soul out their employees. i mean no-one does anything for free.0

I haven't seen any antagonism about it, personally. (I will confess I haven't read the entire thread.)
My comments were pure curiousity. I just can't see how the website profits from our comments.
There's no obvious advertising on the site and we aren't providing statistical info (as in the case of paid surveys.) I don't mind people making a profit from others using their site (as Martin himself does on this site), I just like to know how!
