Well, I've spent 20 mins looking through this thread but at 89 pages can someone please let me know the summary of is this site worth joining? Does it pay etc etc

It pays quite well, but they are not taking on new writers at the moment nor for the forseeable future.

Yeah, that and the fact that they're not open for business at all and haven't been for about 6 months!! Beginning to think they've gone belly up.

The last update was 3/11/08, so suspect they've gone bust.

hmm I can't remember when I last wrote for them, but I believe it was October or November. Since Juliet left, I've not received any offers of work...

maybe they are out of business?
