Chollita I haven't come across any similar sites. Could Writers Share be reported to trading standards, they have made claims on their website, recieved services from us and not lived up to their side?

D******e who are behind Writers Share seem like a leg company, and I did get a shirty email when it was them I emailed about the Writers Share mess, maybe we should keep in contact with the parent company?

I've given up hope with this one now. I'm back on slice the pie again. I know it means listening to awful tuneless tracks ( with the odd one or two good ones thrown in!), but at least the money tracks within seconds and you get paid when you request it. I've had no problems with Slice the Pie paying me at all.

For the attention of all users of Writers:Share

After looking into this matter over the past few days and seeking advice my advice regarding Writers:Share is as follows:

Anyone whom is owed money should make a note of this and if they have a copy of any comments that they have already posted to keep these too.

You will then need to contact Writers:Share via E-mail and ideally by recorded post.
In your contact to Writers:Share state that you intend to take this matter to BBC Watchdog and are seeking advice from there local Trading Standards for misleading information stating that you would be paid for your commenst and have not been paid for such.
State in your contact to them the amount owed to you and give them 14 Dys to reply.

If you find you do not get paid or have no reply anyone who is willing to should contact Writers:Shares local Trading Standard office and report there findings to them for a investigation to be conducted, it may already be that they are aware of ongoing issues with this company.

Finally, it goes without saying that I do recommend that you DO NOT use there service again, even should the website become active at a later stage as to the risk of non payment.

I have just been informed that Writers:Share do not have there address lisited and are claiming to be in the USA, I would therefore contact your local Trading Standards whom can carry out checks on this company.

Would that be more effective if we band together, or complain individually?

I'm not sure if I have missed something that everyone else is aware of, but Night Owl, with all due respect, do you mind me questioning a few things?

Firstly, what is your involvement with Writers share? Are you one of those unpaid? Have you written any comments for them? Your stance is so passionately anti that I just wonder where that is coming from. I am not attacking you, nor doubting your sincerity, just trying to understand where you are coming from.

I realise that people have been very let down by writers share, and that there are some who are still awaiting payment - and I have every sympathy with them and totally understand their frustration. But, I think it's fair to say that *most* people have been paid - I know that is little consolation to those who haven't, and I accept that the matter has been handled badly by writers share. At this stage though, most people have been paid and I'm not sure why you are so determined that they are not to be trusted. I am inclined to think - still - that it is a genuine company, run with genuine intentions, which unfortunately got away from them when it grew bigger and faster than intended. It is disorganised and unprofessional, yes, but I still choose to believe that it is not malicious.

If I am speaking out of turn then I apologise.

whatsername, I with you on the WS people/site. I do think it was legit site and never set out to hurt anyone. I just think the site was not prepared for the response by us.

I believe cash has always been at the heart of the problem, they just didn't have enough to pay us. But there is no excuse the lack on courtesy they have shown people by not keeping them informed as to what is happening.

I still haven't been paid yet, and I'm starting to believe WS have given up with the site now.

You're right on the lack of courtesy, there really is no excuse, but I can see the reluctance to keep coming back to endlessly say "we're working on it..." when evidently it's taking longer than they anticipated.

I do hope they haven't given up on the site, and leaving anyone unpaid is unforgivable.

Yes but a simple post on here once a week would help, or on their facebook page. They haven't even posted anything on their own site since 9 May.

I have always assumed (still do) that the comments we wrote were being used to populate websites or blogs etc to better the search engine stats for W:S' clients.

More recently I have assumed that this may be an experiment that went wrong - ie., clients were encouraged by W:S to see how the comments would produce greater results as an experiment - then the floodgates opened in terms of comments and payments but way out of line with the expected expenditure or payments from the clients - thus everything that we have seen.

The future? Apart from the debt recovery/advice markets most of the US and UK economies are on hold, and maybe there is little future - don't know.

But I do know W:S show no signs, repeat not one imo, of knowing how to run an efficient trustworthy business.

As well as WS, I´ve also been stiffed by a MS company who are refusing to pay me the full fee, it´s infuriating when you are just trying to earn a few quid and you get messed around. I´ve lost all faith in WS now, and agree wholeheartedly with MF´s last line.
