Does anyone know if this would be suitable for digi-scoping ? I dont know anything about it but hubby has a Opticron ES 80 ED scope and looking for a suitable camera?
Thanks0 -
yes exactly.
I'm only a beginner and this is my first slr. at risk of sounding really stupid, does the LCD not act as a preview screen? Do i have to use the view finder?
The Camera doesn't have Live View. The ability to see what you are about to take on the screen. You have to use the viewfinder. Once you have taken the photo' you can then view it on the screen.
r.To a certain extent, the arguments about the kit lens are irrelevant. It was actually cheaper to buy the camera packaged with the lens, than just to purchase the body on its own. Therefore, getting the kits lens was a no-braine
I agree with you in as much as my camera was cheaper with, than without the kit lens. However I took photo's with it & at first thought they were great, that was until I compared them to my 5mp camera with both cameras taking photo's from the same spot. They say the kit lens is best at f8 or f9. and if anyone uses the kit lens don't use the auto feature. Put the dial onto A/V & set to F8 or f9. This will still be almost automatic but with you setting the camera at the best point for the lens. Try to take in RAW as well as jpeg & you will be able to sharpen the picture up a little more. Then buy the best lens your money can buy.:D Happy shooting.Nice to save.0 -
It's a great camera, the kits lens is okay for the job but if you want to get into photography you'll probably want a better one.
You'll need a Compact flash memory card too.
I love mine!

Absolute rubbish. I have the kit lens & it is soft. SOFT means 'slightly out of focus'. My compact cameras take sharper pictures FACT. Someone who knows what there doing + photoshop & you can make it look good, however most people don't know what they are doing when they buy an SLR for the first time & those that do know what they are doing would NOT use the kit lens as they would have moved on to a better lens long ago. I guarantee you, anyone who gets the kit lens, will very soon be disappointed & wish they had not bought it.
I have taken some very sharp photos with my kits lens actually, it's not amazing but it's does the job, especially to start with. I also have an Ixy 850IS and the 400 pics blow that out of the water.0 -
i have a canon 350D and the picture quality and usability are fantastic. The 400D is the next level up(10mp) and if my cameras anything to go by would be simply amazing. My pictures have never been so good. But you probably would need different lenses to get the best out of it.0

the 450D is now in stock in Jessops and others, of course its more expensive but the kit lens is much better0

Sounds like you were lucky. But I now have my camera and it IS brand new for about the same as they are going on Ebay. If they were £193 now then I may have thought about it, £100 saving yes, £10 or £20 no.dillydilly wrote: »Having said that, we don't want everyone knowing about the site and bidding up the prices. You're right - refurbs, too risky. Stick with the high street
High St? The best online deal for this camera NEW is Tesco Direct, not High St. As for everyone knowing about Ebay and Canon Outlet, I would keep your secret as quiet as you can  .0 -
another option would be the Nikon D40. The kit lens is 18-55 but as kit lenses go it gets a very good review. You can get them for £276.08 from Amazon and Nikon are giving £30 cashback at the moment.ie less than £250 for a top brand Digital Slr with 2 year warranty. What a bargain!

It is worth reading through the Amazon reviews.
and for roughly £130 you could buy the 55-200 Vr lens

£380 for both0 -

Cheers for the advice on how to get the best from it. I'll give that a go.0
