You can also collect together soap ends in those little net bags which are used to put washing powder tablets in in the washing machine, and, again, knot the end.0

I have found a product today which can help you recycle those old plastic bottles.
SUPADRIPPA TAPS - Pack of 4
A simple but effective idea for watering plants using old household plastic bottles. On a slow drip a tap will release one litre of water in one week giving slow constant irrigation. Complete with re-usable spike for puncturing container and installing the tap.
Just log on to https://www.organiccatalogue.com - type in dripping taps to the search area - a bit pricey at £5.43 for 4 but you may be able to find them cheaper elsewhere. Let me know if you do.
Great if you are going on holiday and then they can water your plants whilst you are away.[size=-2]Remember its nice to be nice and its good to share!

If it hadn't been for the mags in my doctors surgery I would never have known that the Titanic sank recently.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. I either pass them on to my neighbour and she takes them to her Age Concern group that she goes to once a week or drop them off in my local Doctors surgery, for the waiting patients to read.0 -
Why doesnt the council collect, cardboard & plastic bottles like squash and milk containers?I'm becoming "tight" since finding this site!0

this seems to depend on where you live. My local council has a doorstop collection for cardboard, plastic bottles, glass, paper, textiles and garden waste ie grass cuttings & prunings and will provide compost bins free of charge. When the scheme was extended to more parts of the town, people complained about their bins not being emptied for a fortnight and the problems they might have with vermin. Some folk just can't be pleased.Books - the original virtual reality.

You're so lucky to get all that collected - York city council are so behind.
In some areas where people have gardens they've just started a green garden waste collection and it's been awful in the papers etc - The council collect paper, glass and cans from these people too once a fortnight and will now collect any garden waste and then the other week the 'normal' bin, when will people realise the only reasons you're bin is over flowing are because
a) you're not recycling things that can be recycled (all main supermarkets now have plastic bottle banks in carpark or carpark near them too)
b) you're throwing stuff out which could be reused, sold, given away etc.
c) you're buying too much food, not planning etc- that's why you're having to throw food out
It's not rocket science -

We also have a 2-weekly collection (only thing they don't collect is glass, which is a real nuisance & I have a huge collection of glass waiting for me to remember to take it to the bottle banks.)
However there are still moany letters in the local paper about smelly bins after a fortnight etc. But I hardly ever go much above 1/2 full - even when there were 5 of us living here. Yesterday the bin was nearly full - we had bought a mattress last week & the plastic covertook up a bit of space, mind you, it didn't smell!
But on the whole, I work on the principal of "why buy it if you're only going to throw it away?"0
