In the UK there is the Yellow Pages Directory Recycling Scheme (DRS) which runs in partnership with local authorities.
The DRS Helpline – 0800 671 444 – is published at the front of every new Yellow Pages directory and provides advice to local residents on where and how to recycle their old directories.[size=-2]Remember its nice to be nice and its good to share!

Hi
I have done a quick search on "re-use" to see if there was a re-use thread at all and I could not see anything obvious... I am always interested in giving items a second use... So QUESTION:
What innovative ways do you re-use things???
to get the ball rolling I re-use...
- carrier bags as bin liners
- jam jars for screws, tacks and nails - in the shed I screw the lids on the underside of a shelf and screw the jars up under the shelves, saves lots of space.
what are your tips?????0 -
I've just posted this on the clothing thread but this weekend I've discovered my sons old t-shirts which are now too small for him can be re-used to make excellent t-shirt style nighties for my 2 year old daughter.
I also save old toothbrushes to clean the nooks and cranies of things like taps. I put some masking tape round the handle to identify them as no longer being for teeth brusing purposes -just in case:D0 -
Old flanelette pillowcases can be used as covers for new born cribs/moses baskets.
Old dressing gowns can be cut up for cleaning cloths.
Holey socks - put on your hands and use as dusters.
Use remnants of curtain lining material to cover dining chair seats.
Old pyjamas are good for polishing glas/mirrors.
Recycle old pillows - cut in half and use inside your lounge cushion covers.
Consider rolls of wallpaper to make decorative art.
Consider that old double duvet cover you have finished with - I made 1 pr curtains, single duvet cover (one side only- used curtain lining for the unseen side) and matching pillowcase.0 -
best i can do - make loads of food in SC - freeze over night in meal size portions in Tupperware - next day put 5 frozen meals in one big freezer bag.

I re-use cardboard egg cartons to plant seeds in, save all my jam jars, and use old jeans to make cushions and draught excluders.

I found a great use for the large 4pint milk cartons. I cut the bottom 7cm or so off them then have taped all the bottoms together to make a nifty drawer organiser for the childrens underwear draws. Simple and effective and it definitely helps the children to keep their clothes organised.0
