If you've ever had any calls form the phone number 08003896818, missed them or didn't bother to answer and wondered who it was, here is the answer. I got a call from the number a few days ago. I answered the call and they were calling on behalf of BT and were trying to sell me a BT Credit Card that could quote "give me big savings on my BT phone bill". As I suspected I would have to use the card to enable these big savings, I declined the offer. I then caled the number on the Caller ID tag to find out who these people were. I recorded the call in Windows. The message goes like this "This is a recorded announcement provided by the Listening Company. We are a marketing agency making calls on behalf of a number of different clients. If you have obtained this number by dialling 1471 then it is most likely that one of our agents or automated dialling equipment has attempted to contact you on their behalf. Should you wish to prevent further Sales and Marketing calls to your number from the Listening Company, please hang up and redial 0800 032 4617, then follow the voice prompts. Thank you." Line then goes dead. What annoys me about these type of calls is that I'm ex-directory so I shouldn't really be receiving them in the first place!
Best regards,

Well now there's a thing. I registered with MSE a while ago.
Did a google search on the mystery phone number that just called me and this post on MSE came up :cool:0 -
will people stop posting on the interweb late at night- it scares the kids.. lol
the calls may have been generated at random, or starting at 1 (0208 000 0001, then 0208 000 0002 etc); the ones that do reply may make enough profit to cover all their call costs..
check out the telephone preference service, to see if this co is a member (doubtful!) - also opt your number out of marketing calls, while u r there!Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

What annoys me about these type of calls is that I'm ex-directory so I shouldn't really be receiving them in the first place!
Being x-directory does not stop people phoning you. It only stops directory services giving out your number. The TPS does stop some of these types of calls but not all.0 -

most marketing companies dial numbers knowing only the area that they will be calling i.e they will know that 01543 59xxxxxx will put them through to the lichfield/cannock area exchange (in the west midlands) where the x`s are dialed totally at random or even dial the whole number at random therefore being ex directory will not stop these types of calls.0 -
but I just had a call from this number, someone called Darren said that it was about my Alliance and Leicester account, and that he needed to ask some security questions.
I refused to answer any questions and he said I should call the number on the back of my card. Having been scammed back in May, I was obviously concerned but when I called the number, I was told it was no longer available. Well suspicious by now, I called my bank on the normal number only to be told that there were no flags on the account, nothing to worry about. But there is, isn't there?
Have A&L passed my details on to this company? How else do they know I have an A&L account?
I called the bank back to register concern about The Listening Company having too much info on me from (I assume) A&L. What else can I do to make my annoyance known? Any advice please?0 -
TBH they've probably contacted everyone using an automatic dialler and hoped that they would get lucky."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

I have been getting calls from here the last few days twice a day
I usually dont get to the phone in time when it starts ringing
I did yesterday but the phone cut off today the man on the phone asked for me by the wrong title and wrong first intial he then said he was making sure I was making full use of my sky services okay
He wanted to know if I would answer some security questions like my full name well Im sure the real sky people have my full name and wouldnt ask for me by the wrong intial in the first place
He then got very upset when I asked for them to stop calling, He said but your a sky subscriber yes I am thanks and I want to keep my subsciption as it is He then asked if he had the right person and I asked him to take my name whatever list it was on so they would stop calling was about to mention TPS but he hung upNeeding to lose weight start date 26 December 2011 current loss 60 pound Down.
