Another real work at home job (inbound sales)

I just thought long & hard and realised that yes, the opportunity to work from home was excellent, but that it meant that my 2 children (4 & 9) would have to be really quiet and act like angels until they went to sleep!
I was also concerned that by working both Saurday & Sunday every week would really limit what we did as a family, we wouldn't be able to have friends or family over in case they made too much noise.
I wasn't happy to commence the training on Monday and then to get my hours and not be happy with them as that isn't fair on anyone.
I hope that those that continue with this get on well and get the hours that they want but for me there were to many if, buts & maybes.0 -
Yeah thats fair enough Kaggy, better to be 100% sure before diving in.
and I know personaly 4yr cant act like angles0 -
Honestly I think you're right Kaggy-at times I have to remind my 16 year old I'm working
-I don't think there is any way to do the job without a second adult in the house for the whole shift with young children. I can't see any way it'd work even if your little cherubs ARE angels (and ALL our cherubs are angels of course) Not just noise but their safety too.
However just because suitable shifts aren't available now-doesn't mean there won't be in the future. The fact that there are now two different roles now instead of one surely means the client is happy so who knows what expansion there could be in the future-and therefore a wider range of hours ?
Hope you find something that will work for you and your family.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I was in exactly the same situation the tail end of last year due to prebooked holiday. I was offered a later course instead and started with the company in January. I'd suggest keeping in touch with your recruiter by email until you get a definite date so they know you are still interested and haven't found another job in the meantime.Hi guys,
I have/had been accepted for the sales job, only to find out I cant be hired to start the training on Monday because I am going on holiday 14th-27th of May (Cannes film festival :P)
Amy did say she would be in touch so that I could potentially start training on the new course near the end of May?
I have emailed her to see if this position will still stand for when I come back holiday. Reading through your posts it seems they will contact me in the future to work for them?
I read on the other thread another user on here was in the same boat in regards to holidays so I can only hope that they will let me start training when I am back off holiday, as I was really looking forward to this jobI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Thank you for all the positive comments, I just wanted to say that although I won't be taking up the job, Teletech have gone out of their way to try to accommodate me with my hours to be worked.
If there is a problem with hours / days to be worked, you must speak up. If you go into training hoping that it will be all ok then more fool you. As the job is based from home it can be easy to think that it's not as real as a job in an office, you have to ask yourself, if it was would you accept the unknown hours until after training - I think that for most of us the answer would be no.
I hope that no one thinks that I am having a go, I just wanted to give my thoughts.0 -
UPDATE ON REQUIRED HOURS:
Hi guys, well have had email from both my recruiter and Carlos the sales trainer. Basically the sales role has 2 lots of weekly hours to be worked. one of 22 hours and one of 25 hours. I explained that i was told that 22 hours would be the minimum and that that worked out well for me, and both amy and carlos have said that that will be fine. They are going to notify the correct department and my hours will be amended to the original 22 hours and not the 25 hours they emailed me yesterday. I can only suggest that if anyone else has had the '25 hours' email that they get in touch with Carlos and ask him to let the right department know. Apparently the dept that does the hours will be notified on Monday and all details updated then. I hope this helps!
Personally I am quite relieved. As I said before there will be days that i will happily take on extra hours but for them to be madatory was quite worrying.
Anyway, really looking forward to training- have sorted out my 'home office' lol which equates to a table and chair in the spare room. The kids are none too happy as it is currently the xbox room but as it is the quietest room in the house they will just have to lump it lol.0 -
Yeah you have probably taken the right choice for your situation, if its anything like the CS job overtime pops up pretty often anyway so you
can earn a little extra when you can fit it in.
And thanks for keeping everybody updated specs0 -
