i have just done my cupboards. I use tupperware in my food cupboards and although initially expensive it lasts for years.0

I am not great at it, although I do have rice, pasta and flours all in kilner style jars.
But my way to (mostly) avoid duplications or lack of essentials is to have a "running" shopping list on the fridge and, whenever anyone finishes something, they are to add it to the list for the next shopping trip. (Or if something is running low, even better to get it before it actually runs out). It is not perfect, but I have mostly trained DH to do it now, and we are not too bad for it these days.GC 2010 €6,000/ €5,897

i missed this thread first time round!
I've merged this with a similar thread for you so you can see how others do it. Mine are all in tubs - i have a big tub with all my spices (well two tubs now), a big tub with nuts, dried fruit and seeds, and one with grains - soup mix, couscous, rice, lentils, oats,etc. Then i have a tub of stock cubes, and a tub of popcorn and a b ig tub of salt and one of sugar.
My baking cupboard is a mess and something falls out any time i bake stuff. On the inside of the door i have my faourite recipes and conversion charts hehe . Geek:D

I feel like I need to having a change round and reorganizing how I keep my food stocks. It's a small kitchen, I have a large above worktop cupboard, 2 slim cupboards and a large deep corner one that everything disappears into the back off. Then there are 2 cupboards and a corner one with turn table in under the worktop. I also have a small under the stairs pantry. I have moved the fridge out of the pantry and given it a lick of paint and it's got some good sturdy shelves in there, I guess who ever had the house originaly put them in. I dream of a walk in larder but as thats not going to happen I need to make best use of space that I've got.
I use to have the tin food stuff in under the worktop cupboards them but because of health problems I just can't get down to hunt for things so I've put my cookware, saucepans and empty jars I save for bottleing, plus cleaning products etc in them and that seems to work, but still not sure how to organised my food stocks. So far I've got as far as putting the dried stuff like flour, sugar etc and veg in the pantry as thought that would be better than the kitchen but how does everyone else organize their stuff, what sort of things do you put together?[FONT="]“I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” ~ Maya Angelou[/FONT][FONT="][/FONT]0 -
I do envy you your pantry Mrs Bones!
The only food items I store in floor cupboards is a basket of root veg which is in where my pots and pans are. Everything else (except freezers and fridge) is in a wall cupboard. Basically I have cupboards for:- sauces/condiments/honey/jams etc(this is a narrow cupboard near the cooker)
- dry stuff like pasta, rice and various sugars
- more dry stuff like flour, tea, coffee, chocolate and stock cubes (this cupboard also has a brilliant rack on the door for herbs and spices)
- part of a cupboard with a deep enough shelf for boxes of cereal
- one for tins and jars

I have a huge cupboard with pull out shelves were all my tins, jars and dreid stuff are kept - dried in ikea storage jars. veg are in a basket in the bottom of this cupboard.
I have a drawer/ shelf for each theme - baking, tins, grains and pulses, fruit and nuts.
Stuff that I buy in bulk (tinned toms, apple juice, etc etc) I keep 2 of in the cupboard and the rest in the cellarPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I don't have much space but keep everything grouped. All dried beans/grains in bags are kept in the bags with clips on in one big tupperware. Tins are stacked together in rows according to what they are, ie fish, tinned toms. I keep flour/baking together and rice and pasta together. Any extra are stored elsewhere in a box until I need them.Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0
